Job summary

RB Jones, a member of H.W. Kaufman Group, seeks an experienced ocean marine liability underwriter to drive growth of Hull/P&I, Primary Marine Liability and Excess Marine Liability.

The role focuses on developing broker relationships, underwriting sound marine risks, and generating new and renewal business. Candidates should have 7–10 years of marine underwriting experience, a Bachelor’s degree, and licenses/designations (CPCU, CIC, AMIM) or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 7–10 years of marine underwriting experience.
• Insurance licenses or designations such as CPCU, CIC, AMIM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and grow a marine liability book (Hull/P&I, Primary Marine Liability, Excess Marine Liability).
• Develop and manage broker relationships.
• Produce new business and renewals.
• Prequalify accounts and apply underwriting judgment to select sound risks.
• Underwrite, rate, quote and bind profitable marine business.
• Frequent travel as needed.

*This position is open to multiple U.S. locations. Preferably near a U.S. HW Kaufman office location.*

We are looking for candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, drive for career advancement and desire to develop relationships. The candidate will play a critical role in driving the growth and profitability of our ocean marine liability business. Interested? Join our team!

Responsibilities

• Maintain and grow a book of ocean marine liability business including Hull/P&I, Primary Marine Liability, and Excess Marine Liability as part of the RB Jones Marine team
• Manage and develop broker relationships
• Produce new business as well as maintain a book of renewal business
• Prequalify accounts and utilize underwriting acumen to select sound marine risks
• Underwrite, rate, quote and bind, profitable new and renewal marine business to meet goals in agreement with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority
• Regular travel as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of marine underwriting experience required
• Wholesale, MGA or carrier experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
• Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
• Interest in continued education and professional development
• Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, AMIM or comparable designations

Compensation Package

• Base salary range of $110,000.00 to $165,000.00 dependent upon experience
