Job summary

You will mentor junior surveyors, maintain files, and help advance safety programs while promoting ABS services to clients and prospects. This role involves field surveys, rigorous reporting, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Two-year program in engineering or physical science is required.
• Seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer is required or advantageous.
• Proficiency in English commensurate with statutory certification and duties.
• Minimum requirements for Senior Surveyor I must be met.
• At least three years of experience as a Senior Surveyor I.
• Understanding ABS strategic technical positioning in the marine sector.
• Eight years of experience in an engineering or survey role with an IACS member.

Responsibilities

• Apply ABS Rules and standards to surveys of vessels, platforms, and marine structures.
• Perform routine surveys and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Prepare technically accurate and timely survey reports.
• Engage with clients to resolve problems within expertise area.
• Maintain survey files in an orderly, up-to-date state.
• Provide leadership and training to junior surveyors.
• Promote ABS services and capabilities to present and potential customers.
