The U.S. Coast Guard, in Houston, seeks a Marine Inspector (GS-1801-12) to serve as a primary inspections representative for the Sector Houston/Galveston Inspecti ons Division.

You will coordinate vessel plan reviews, inspect onboard systems, and certify portions of on-the-job training for inspectors. Responsibilities include conducting hull and equipment inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and treaty requirements, with opportunities to handle complex vessel inspection issues

Formación

• Conduct technical reviews of vessel plans and inspects onboard operating systems to determine compliance with regulations and applicable standards.
• Prepare inspection documentation and draft orders for required changes, repairs or operational limitations.
• Conduct vessel examinations under SOLAS or other international conventions.
• Train and certify completed portions of on-the-job training for assigned civilian and military Marine Inspectors.

Responsabilidades

• Provide coordination and expertise as primary inspections representative for their assigned Sector or MSU.
• Inspect a vessel's hull, hull envelope, internal structural members, protrusions, fittings, appendages, special tanks and fire protection to ensure safety standards are met.
• Draft and maintain inspection records and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
