Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Senior Full Stack UX Engineer focused on Map Creation Systems to design and build backend services and a responsive UI for geospatial map data. You will lead architecture, pipelines, and data processing, while mentoring engineers and collaborating with delivery teams to scale mapping workflows.

Role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, UX focus, and delivering high-quality geospatial applications that support autonomous fleet operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development with ownership of complex features.
• Full-stack expertise with scalable backend services and modern WebGL-based applications using React or Angular.
• Hands-on full-stack development including API design, Python-based geometric algorithms, and familiarity with cloud infrastructure and DevOps (AWS, Kubernetes, Buildkite, CI/CD).
• Strong UX sensibility and attention to detail, ensuring UI aligns with design specs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration, with strong product ownership.
• Demonstrated judgment and bias for action balancing rapid development with long-term code quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead the feature lifecycle for the mapping system from design to backend and UI implementation.
• Architect and develop geospatial backend services and data pipelines for complex map data.
• Build responsive web applications translating complex datasets into intuitive products.
• Influence team direction and mentor engineers through design reviews to improve architecture and reliability.
• Ensure code quality through reviews across web and backend codebases.
• Collaborate with cross-team and operations stakeholders to deliver mapping improvements.
