Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking experienced hardware engineering professionals to help build next generation networking platforms for world class data centers.

This role focuses on modular chassis based enterprise/carrier products with exposure to terabit switch fabrics and high-speed interfaces. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in manufacturing/manufacturing engineering, experience with SMT, PCB fabrication, IPC standards, and interaction with overseas ODM/JDM partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any domain).
  • 8+ years of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience with problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Interfacing with outside vendors and developers.
  • Hands-on SMT assembly experience.
  • Knowledge of PCB fabrication and HDI assembly.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑7711/7721, J‑STD‑001).
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP) and SPC methods.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, Gerber files, and BOMs.

Job description

Amazon Web Services’ Network Products Development team is looking for experienced hardware engineering professionals to help build our next generation networking platforms. The right candidate will play a key role in the delivery of our next generation Ethernet switching platforms for our world class data centers. Strong experience in modular chassis based enterprise/carrier products is a must. The ideal candidate is an experienced manufacturing process engineer with experience in the areas of terabit switch fabrics, 10/40/100 gigabit interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, and network processors. Previous experience in manufacturing with overseas ODM/JDM partners is a must. Experience both in development (NPI) and manufacturing is a required, and experience with supporting product life cycle after production release is a plus. This includes supply chain support, second source component qualification, and fleet support.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any domain)
  • 8+ years of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience demonstrating problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Experienced interfacing with outside vendors and developers
  • Hands-on experience with SMT assembly processes
  • Working knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly for HDI boards
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721, J-STD-001)
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP) and SPC methods
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, gerber files, and BOMs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering (any domain)
  • Experience in SMT, PCB fabrication, sheetmetal fabrication (including die cast, injection molding, CNC, and SLA)
  • Experience in DFx
  • Direct experience with data center switch, router, or server product manufacturing
  • Knowledge of high-speed interconnect tech (400G/800G optics, PCIe, SerDes)
  • Experience with thermal process validation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
