Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of manufacturing or assembly engineering experience.
  • 5+ years supporting precision electromechanical mechanisms, haptic devices, or medical capital equipment.
  • Experience with BOM structure and process documentation (MPI, DHR, MES) and PFMEA.
  • Medical device experience in NPI environments.
  • CAD proficiency and GD&T with 3D tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Strong statistical proficiency (SPC, Cpk, DOE, Minitab).
  • Experience maturing manufacturing processes from prototype to production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own assembly processes for the OTTAVA surgeon input device and major precision subassemblies.
  • Develop assembly sequence logic controlling friction, preload, encoder alignment, and variation.
  • Define datum schemes, fixturing strategies, and measurement methods across assembly.
  • Author and release manufacturing processes (MPI, travelers, eDHR) and inspection criteria.
  • Define assembly and inspection processes for integrated electromechanical assemblies.
  • Determine metrology and test requirements for reliability and verification.
  • Implement precision assembly equipment and fixtures for scalable industrialization.
  • Improve calibration/test outputs through process development and validation.
  • Lead cross‑functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, Operations, and suppliers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
