Job summary

Medtronic in Mystic, CT is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support chemical processing and manual assembly operations. You will partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, Facilities, Maintenance, and EHS to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.

You will lead continuous improvement projects, validation activities, and manufacturing documentation, driving solutions to complex operational challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  • PhD with 0 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

A Day in the Life

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations at Medtronic's Mystic, CT site. In this role, you will partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, Facilities, Maintenance, and EHS teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations. As a key engineering resource supporting both chemical processing and manual assembly operations, you will provide technical leadership for equipment troubleshooting, process improvements, validation activities, and manufacturing projects that directly impact product quality, operational performance, and business results.

Working within a small and highly collaborative engineering team, this position offers the opportunity to take on broad responsibilities and make a meaningful impact across the site. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, manage validation and process improvement projects,maintainmanufacturing documentation and procedures, and help drive solutions to complex operational challenges. The successful candidate will combine strong technical problem-solving skills with initiative, learning agility, and the ability to work independently while partnering effectively across functions to support the manufacture of products that improve patient outcomes around the world.

This position is located in Mystic, CT and follows a five (5) day onsite work model. No travel is required.

Requires Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degreeand minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • ORMaster'sdegree with a minimum of 2yearsrelevant experience
  • OR PhD with 0yearsrelevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a production environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, processes, or production-related issues.
  • Experience leading or supporting equipment qualifications, process validations, or engineering change initiatives.
  • Experience implementing process improvements that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, yield, or cost metrics.
  • Experience using Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, Planning, or EHS.
  • Experience using enterprise systems such as SAP, Agile, PLM systems, or equivalent manufacturing documentation systems.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, technicians, or manufacturing personnel.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$102,400.00 - $153,600.00

This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
