Job summary

Anduril Industries in Irvine, CA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own parts of the manufacturing value chain for electro-mechanical assemblies, from DFx to test.

You will drive process improvements, partner with Quality and Design teams, and scale new products to full production. The role requires 8+ years in manufacturing and a strong cost-reduction focus.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering or hard sciences.
  • 8+ years in manufacturing or electromechanical hardware.
  • Experience delivering electromechanical hardware in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Experience with DFx for NPI transitions.
  • Experience with RF products requiring system AI&T is a plus.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Own a portion or all of the manufacturing value chain including Assembly, Integration & Test for electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events to improve quality and throughput.
  • Collaborate with Product Quality Engineering to drive RCCA burndowns for EW Production issues.
  • Provide DFx guidance to Design Engineering for smooth NPI transitions.
  • Develop process flows by breaking down complex assemblies into subassemblies and sub-processes.
  • Write work instructions, quality plans, inspection requirements for scale manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers to develop repeatable processes for rapid prototyping and production.
  • Hands-on build of prototype hardware with technicians and other engineers.
  • Contribute to end-customer hardware design including interconnects and board fabrication.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Manufacturing team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The EW Manufacturing Team is responsible for rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware for Electromagnetic Warfare. This responsibility includes everything in the manufacturing value-chain, including, but not limited to, Design for Manufacturability work, tool design & selection, process creation & optimization, vendor sourcing & interaction, quality planning, and work documentation associated with the hardware that the Manufacturing Engineer owns.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer within EW, you will be responsible for driving process improvements, ensuring the highest quality of production, and supporting the development and implementation of new products. You will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes, reducing costs, and increasing efficiencies on existing technologies while also developing new products and scaling to full scale production.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Own a portion or all of the manufacturing value chain that includes Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) for electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Contribute to operational excellence with a strong continuous improvement mindset and leading impactful Kaizen events
  • Be a strong partner with Product Quality Engineering to drive and support RCCA burndowns that tackle key issues both internally and externally to EW Production
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering teams in early to late phases of the development process to provide DFx for smooth NPI transitions
  • Develop process flows, breaking down large, complex assemblies into a logical part flow of subassemblies and sub-processes
  • Write documentation required for successfully manufacturing their hardware at scale, such as work instructions, quality plans, inspection requirements, etc.
  • Work with contract manufacturers across various disciplines (PCBA fab, metallic manufacturing, assembly, etc.) to develop repeatable, sustained processes for quick-turn development as well as at-scale production
  • Work with technicians and other engineers hands‑on, building prototype hardware
  • Contribute to end‑customer hardware mechanical or electrical design, including interconnects, board fabrication and inspection, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in a technical field preferred such as engineering, math, or a hard science
  • 8+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably manufacturing or design of electromechanical hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver electromechanical hardware in a resource‑constrained environment
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the delivery of electromechanical hardware in a resource‑constrained environment
  • Personal experience physically manufacturing hardware via any means (machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly, etc.) Work on personal or extracurricular projects is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with JIRA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter (PLM), or Oracle (ERP) or equivalents
  • Experience with RF Products that require system AI&T (assembly, integration, and test)
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

US Salary Range

$146,000 — $194,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
