STS Technical Services is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Brookfield, Wisconsin. This full-time, first-shift position supports new job launches for complex precision-machined components used in aerospace, military, oil and gas, and industrial applications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive manufacturing experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a thorough understanding of traditional machining, specialized manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM systems, blueprint reading and GD&T.

Position Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading new job launch projects from preparation through delivery. This position works across internal departments, outside suppliers and customer teams to support technical requirements, quality expectations, production schedules and project costs.

Success in this role is measured by the ability to deliver new job launch parts on time, ensure components meet technical requirements, maintain startup costs within budget and develop manufacturing processes with the potential to remain profitable during ongoing production.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
  • Gather, organize and report project status to customers, executive leadership, plant leadership and outside suppliers
  • Lead new job launch projects across all functional areas of the organization
  • Maintain hands-on involvement in new job launch activities from preparation through delivery
  • Monitor all elements of new job launch implementation
  • Facilitate the resolution of manufacturing issues involving fixtures, tooling and programming
  • Work with Quality Assurance personnel and customers to resolve quality and inspection issues
  • Communicate scheduling requirements to Operations, Scheduling, Planning, Purchasing, Supplier Management and Quality Assurance
  • Identify when additional action is needed to meet project goals and communicate those needs appropriately
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and customer requirements
  • Solve technical problems with customers, office personnel and shop floor teams
  • Monitor project costs and address potential overruns
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts involving limited resources throughout the supply chain
  • Manage, track and report new job launch costs against established plans
  • Evaluate expected production unit costs and report findings to executive management
  • Support high-probability project quotes
  • Participate in customer site visits and teleconferences
  • Generate ideas for manufacturing methods
  • Gather technical information before project startup
  • Support company core values and organizational priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • More than 10 years of experience in an equivalent role within a manufacturing organization
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and machining processes
  • CAD/CAM knowledge
  • Ability to interpret GD&T
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and accountability skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout the supply chain
