Job summary

Laborie, a world-class medical device company, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for the Special Operations Team to optimize automation, reduce COGS, and improve transfer processes.

You will lead cross-functional teams, evaluate operations, and design strategies to shorten cycle times while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience as a Manufacturing/Production Engineer, preferably in Medical Devices with a bachelor’s degree -OR- 6+ years’ experience with a master’s degree.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing engineering preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, SolidWorks, MS Office.
• Lean manufacturing experience with knowledge of lean methods and procedures.
• Experience with Manufacturing Quality and Product Development.

Responsibilities

• Assist project manager in estimating project timelines and optimizing development plans.
• Assist in evaluating operations for potential acquisitions.
• Evaluate manufacturing lines and processes and develop a strategy for new equipment and processes to reduce assemble time and improve efficiency.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, training and guiding technicians to implement new product designs.
• Actively participate in DFA/DFM activities to verify manufacturability of product designs.

Who We’re Looking For:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Special Operations Team) is responsible for investigating equipment and automation used in manufacturing process in lieu of manual labor. This individual will work on equipment design plans and strategy to reduce COGS through automation, semi-automation or reducing fixturing. Responsible for managing 3rd party equipment design vendors to complete equipment builds. This individual will work closely with several departments to ensure efficient design transfer processes and thrives in cross-functional teams. With experience in lean manufacturing environments and relevant product knowledge, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer helps improve manufacturing processes and explore new ideas.

About the Role:

• Assist project manager in estimating project timelines and optimizing development plans.
• Assist in evaluating operations for potential acquisitions.
• Evaluate manufacturing lines and processes and develop a strategy for new equipment and processes to reduce assemble time (seconds/device), design and build pre-production fixtures, and improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, time studies, space requirements, equipment layout and soliciting observations from operators.
• Coordinate with cross functional teams, training and guiding technicians to implement new product designs and design updates to existing products and ensure efficient design transfer process.
• Actively participate in Design for Assembly (DFA) / Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities to verify manufacturability of Product Designs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 8+ years’ experience as a Manufacturing/Production Engineer, preferably in Medical Devices with a bachelor’s degree -OR- 6+ years’ experience with a master’s degree
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing engineering preferred
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, SolidWorks, MS Office
• Lean manufacturing experience with knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and procedures.
• Experience with Manufacturing Quality and Product Development

Preferred Qualifications:

• Medical device industry experience
• Experience with regulatory compliance, specifically ISO13485/ISO 9000
