Job summary

C&S Machine is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in a full-time, on-site role in Michigan. You will act as technical lead for processing manufacturing projects from concept through sustained production, while coaching and mentoring other engineers.

You will complete production processing for new products, perform NPD reviews, manage tooling design, and lead teams to integrate new technologies, ensuring procedures meet customer requirements and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or 10 years of job shop manufacturing experience with 5 years in support of engineering functions.
• Solid understanding of processing methods to transform raw materials into finished products in a machining environment.
• Experience in design of Tools, Fixtures and work holding
• Solid understanding of GD&T application and interpretation
• Experience in development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and controls

Responsibilities

• Complete job processing for new products and sustained production support.
• Perform Engineering reviews for New Product Development processes.
• Process Engineering Smartsheet Requests for New and Sustained production support.
• Create / Develop tooling, fixtures, work holding and gage designs for production use.
• Lead teams for integration of new technologies to CS from Concept to Sustained Processing of Parts
• Coordinate acquisition of production support items to support new products
• Develop, verify and maintain manufacturing methods, processes and specifications
• Perform contract reviews to ensure customer requirements are met
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues with shop floor
• Review new production parts and develop manufacturing methods and controls
• Complete documentation and system audits as needed
• Respond to customer requests and provide superior service
• Train, coach and mentor other employees

Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for being the technical lead for the processing of manufacturing projects through concept, Initial development and sustained production. The role will act as a trainer, coach, and mentor to help grow and develop the other engineers.

What you'll do:

• Complete job processing for new products and sustained production support.
• Perform Engineering reviews for New Product Development processes.
• Process Engineering Smartsheet Requests for New and Sustained production support.
• Create / Develop custom Tooling, Fixture, Work holding and Gage designs for New and Sustained production use.
• Participate and / or Lead teams for integration of new technologies to C&S from Concept to Sustained Processing of Parts
• Coordinates the acquisition of initial production support items Tooling, Fixturing, Gages, etc to support new product introductions.
• Develop, Verify and maintain manufacturing methods, processes and specifications to customer requirements.
• Perform contract reviews to ensure customer requirements are met and maintained (ie. MQI, ADCN, OPMPs) for new products introduced into production and sustained production parts
• Troubleshooting of ideas and/or manufacturing issues with shop floor for Product Development and sustained production.
• Review all new production parts and work with others to properly develop manufacturing methods, process controls and part process.
• Complete documentation and system audits, as needed
• Respond promptly to customer requests, providing service that often exceeds expectations.
• Train, Coach and mentor other employees in the Product Development area.

What we're looking for:

• Engineering degree or at least 10 years of job shop manufacturing experience with 5 years in support of engineering functions.
• Solid understanding of processing methods necessary to transform raw materials into finished products in a machining environment.
• Experience in design of Tools, Fixtures and work holding
• Solid understanding of GD&T application and interpretation
• Experience in development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and controls

Language skills:

Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, with the English language.

Mathematical skills:

Have a strong background in trigonometry and geometry.

Reasoning ability:

Possess a strong ability to think logically to solve manufacturing problems, or while evaluating a new process. Must not only think in an engineering mind-set but also in relation to business as far as cost is concerned.
