Job summary

John Galt Staffing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support collaboration between Design Engineering and production teams in a growing facility in Maryland. The role emphasizes make/buy analyses, equipment planning, process development, and continuous improvement for new product introductions.

The ideal candidate will have a 3+ year manufacturing background (preferably electrical/electronic/RF), hands-on CAD experience, and knowledge of GD&T. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, RF, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment (preferably electrical/electronic/RF).
  • Experience with materials, methods and equipment for assembling and testing electronics.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and tolerances in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to analyze drawings, BOMs, CAD models and specifications.
  • U.S. citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Assembly Technicians and other Manufacturing Engineers to ensure clear communication between design and manufacturing.
  • Perform make/buy analyses for new designs by reviewing drawings, sketches, and schematics.
  • Determine necessary capital equipment, facility requirements, and manufacturing technologies for emerging programs.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, tool designs, production layouts, cost estimates, and configuration control for new products.
  • Identify emerging manufacturing technologies and perform cost/benefit analyses for implementation.
  • Develop factory floor plans and equipment arrangements to ensure efficient flow.
  • Develop detailed manufacturing process documents and drive best practices.
  • Develop detailed production plans to support new products.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external suppliers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while interacting with a diverse workforce.
  • Implement automation, AI, and other continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Qualifications
  • Experience levels will be determined by a hiring team. We are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree preferably in Electrical, RF, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably electrical/electronic/RF experience)
  • Experience and relevant background in application of materials, manufacturing methods and equipment; especially in regards to assembling, troubleshooting, repairing electronic systems, circuits, test equipment and cables/harnesses
  • Knowledge of electronics, electrical, RF, mechanical design and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of DFX principles, including Design for Manufacturing, Inspection, Assembly, and Cost.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and the appropriate tolerances in a manufacturing mechanical environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of existing manufacturing technologies, and the ability to research emerging manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to analyze and understand technical drawings, preliminary bills of material, engineering sketches, CAD models, prototypes, specifications, and ad hoc requirements.
  • Ability to detect and analyze potential design issues, and to apply logical or scientific solutions to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to visualize and comprehend critical elements of a manufacturing environment and to understand the interactions of various factors that affect engineering designs.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, diverse team environment. Includes the ability to justify analytical results then effectively communicate recommendations to positively influence designs and processes.
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Manufacturing specific computer skills: ERP and MRP (e.g. Oracle); PLM (e.g. Matrix); MES (e.g. Solumina).
  • Experience with CAD software (UG NX 10+, SolidWorks).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred degrees are Electrical, RF, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
