Job summary

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Boulder, CO to drive cross-functional quality, cycle time, and process improvements. You will lead CI initiatives, MRB meetings, and production readiness reviews to ensure smooth transitions from new products to production.

The role requires 10-15 years in manufacturing engineering, Lean Six Sigma expertise, and strong data-driven decision skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics; Master’s preferred.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt or demonstrated Lean Six-Sigma methodologies and tools.
  • Experience using statistics and statistical process control (SPC) for data-driven decisions.
  • Use of DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5-Why, fault tree diagram, value-stream maps, and time study/capacity analysis.
  • Experience in low volume, high product mixture manufacturing; precision optics preferred.
  • Ability to present project status to stakeholders and customers.
  • Knowledge of OEE and Theory of Constraints.
  • Cross-functional team leadership with multi-line project management.

Responsibilities

  • Use of continual improvement and data analysis tools to identify issues in manufacturing processes and collaborate with Process Engineering and Operations.
  • Work with Operations to identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, training needs, and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Lead Production Readiness Reviews for items transitioning from New Product teams to production.
  • Conduct root cause analyses on nonconforming materials and report findings to Management and customers as applicable.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers in cross-functional teams to analyze defects and optimize processes.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects from proposal to steering committee updates.
  • Optimize stable processes by yield improvement analysis.
  • Lead MRB meetings to address non-conformances and systemic issues.
  • Collaborate across multi-level teams and provide daily manufacturing support.
  • Review and update Manufacturing plans, routings, yields, BOMs and work instructions.
  • Work with finance to resolve production variances weekly.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

We are currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who will engage and drive solutions of cross-functional quality, cycle time, and process issues.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Use of continual improvement and data analysis tools to identify issues in manufacturing processes impacting Quality and working to resolve them with the Process Engineering and Operations teams.
  • Work closely with Operations to identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, training needs, and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Lead Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) for items transitioning from New Product teams to production in a comprehensive manner to ensure smooth transition into manufacturing. This includes conducting training requirements, space requirements, capacity analysis and quality analysis.
  • Conducting root cause analyses on nonconforming materials and reporting findings to Management and, as applicable, to customers.
  • Working with Process Engineers in cross functional team environments, analyzing and understanding defects and working to optimize processes.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) projects that are derived from data analysis, scope includes proposing new projects, chartering, developing schedules, leading teams and regular updates to CI steering committee.
  • Optimization of stable processes by conducting yield improvement analysis and efforts.
  • Lead/Participate in regular Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to ensure non-compliances are being addressed in a timely manner and systemic issues are resolved.
  • The candidate will be excellent in collaborating in multi-level, cross-functional teams and provide daily support of the manufacturing operation.
  • Ensure Manufacturing plans are reviewed and updated on a regular basis. This includes conducting periodic review of Standard Routings, Yields, Standard Bill of Materials and Work instructions.
  • Work with finance to understand and resolve production variances in manufacturing on a weekly basis.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt or demonstrated use and knowledge of Lean Six-Sigma methodologies and tools preferred.
  • Experience in using statistics and statistical process control (SPC) to make data-driven decisions while driving improvements.
  • Demonstrated use of Lean/Six-Sigma and root cause analysis tools such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5-Why, fault tree diagram, value-stream maps, and time study/capacity analysis.
  • Experience in low volume, high product mixture manufacturing. Precision optics manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to present project status to stakeholders/champions and customers.
  • Working Knowledge of OEE and Theory of Constraints preferred
  • Cross-functional team leadership including managing multi-line projects with expected completion goals, milestones, and dates.

Pay Range: $120,000 - $155,000 per year, depending on experience.
