Exponent Inc. is seeking a Senior Managing Geotechnical Engineer in Houston, TX, to lead geotechnical projects within Civil & Structural Engineering. You will develop client relationships, oversee field investigations, analyses, and design tasks while mentoring staff in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers exposure to diverse projects, cross-office collaboration, and opportunities to advance within Exponent’s multidisciplinary teams. Strong leadership and publication experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with 10+ years geotechnical experience; or MS with 15+ years.
• P.E. license in at least one state; multi-state licensure a plus.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and client development skills.
• Proven leadership and staff mentoring capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; track record of publications or professional society activity.
• Current licensed professional civil engineer in at least one state, with ability to license in others.

Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Managing Geotechnical Engineer for our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice inHouston, TX. Other locations will also be considered. In this role you will work as part of a team responsible for developing and executing geotechnical engineering projects. This position will provide technically challenging work with excellent opportunities to grow within the firm.

You will be responsible for

• Identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities and promoting Exponent through industry contacts
• Significantly contributing to increasing Exponent's civil and geotechnical engineering consulting efforts
• Conducting analyses of geotechnical and civil engineering systems
• Evaluating construction claims related to ground conditions, earthwork, and earth structures (support of excavations, foundations, retaining walls, etc.)
• Preparing conceptual designs for the repair/restoration of geotechnical systems
• Performing peer reviews
• Providing strategic consulting and expert witness work
• Leading project teams on the execution of project deliverables (field investigations, analyses, written and oral presentations of findings)
• Developing project work with new and existing clients
• Developing and mentoring staff in both technical and business areas

You will have the following skills and qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university with 10+ years’ experience or M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university plus at least 15 years’ experience
• P.E. License in at least one state
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Significant business and client development experience with a proven track record
• Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals
• Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy, desire to work in a fast paced environment
• Proven track record of effective leadership skills
• Strong publication record in peer reviewed journals or conference proceedings or demonstrated leadership or activity in geotechnical professional societies
• Past record of excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Current licensed professional civil engineer in at least one state with ability to become licensed in multiple other states

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.

Salary Range

USD $165,000.00 - USD $220,000.00 /Yr.
