Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Lead Snowflake Data Architect & Administrator to design, implement, and govern enterprise Snowflake Data Cloud solutions. You will lead a team of Snowflake administrators and data engineers, acting as Product Owner to translate business vision into backlogs and KR definitions.

This role blends data strategy with hands-on platform administration, security, and cost optimization. Ideal candidates will have 12+ years in data warehousing, deep Snowflake expertise, AWS/Azure

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in data architecture and warehousing, with strong hands-on Snowflake administration experience.
• Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture (Storage, Compute, Cloud Services, Time Travel, Fail-safe, and Zero-Copy Cloning).
• Cloud experience with AWS and Azure, as well as traditional data warehouses (Redshift, Oracle).
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing technical teams, including Snowflake administrators and data engineers.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations, troubleshoot incidents, and lead technical delivery.
• Track record of managing project risks, SOWs, and C-level client relationships across concurrent public sector engagements.
• Advanced SQL skills for writing complex analytical queries, data transformation, performance tuning, and query profiling.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

• Architect enterprise Snowflake platform solutions across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure) using dimensional modeling.
• Administer Snowflake environments, including database lifecycle management, virtual warehouse sizing, and scaling.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Snowflake administrators and data engineers, including performance management, career development, and resource planning.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of Data Cloud initiatives for Federal and Public Sector clients, managing technical engagements, executive escalations, and stakeholder alignment.
• Implement RBAC policies, user provisioning, access control, and least-privilege security standards.
• Monitor compute and storage usage via Account Usage data, optimize resource utilization, and tune query performance.
• Partner with engineering and executive stakeholders to troubleshoot access issues and integrate ETL and BI tools.
• Serve as Product Owner for a scrum team focused on consolidating complex Snowflake environments and their data. Partner closely with Scrum Masters and cross-functional teams to translate business vision into technical backlogs, define Key Results (KRs), prioritize data deliverables, and ensure sprint commitments align with platform performance and architectural standards.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Lead Snowflake Data Architect & Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and operational governance of enterprise-scale Data Cloud solutions. This role combines high-level data strategy with hands-on administration, access control management, and cost optimization. The Lead Snowflake Data Architect & Administrator will also manage a team of Snowflake administrators and data engineers, and will serve as the Product Owner for that team.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 12+ years of experience in data architecture and warehousing, with strong hands-on Snowflake administration experience.
• Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture (Storage, Compute, Cloud Services, Time Travel, Fail-safe, and Zero-Copy Cloning).
• Cloud experience with AWS and Azure, as well as traditional data warehouses (Redshift, Oracle).

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery, data replication, and backup/failover strategies in Snowflake across regions or cloud providers.
• Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience; certification preferred.
• Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core, Advanced Administrator, or Advanced Data Engineer).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform for AWS and Schemachange for Snowflake object and pipeline provisioning.
• Linux CLI experience and automation of cloud-native data architectures.
• FinOps and cost-optimization experience (implementing resource monitors, credit alerts, and optimizing warehouse compute efficiency for incremental loads).
• Experience working with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) information systems.
• CMS/Medicare or Medicaid claims data experience.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
