Job summary

TerraPower, based in Bellevue, WA, seeks an experienced Senior Manager for Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting. The role leads technical accounting, ensures GAAP-compliant financial reporting, and partners across Finance to strengthen internal controls.

You will guide complex transactions, prepare memos, coordinate with auditors, and drive process improvements in a dynamic, multi-business environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience including Big 4 public accounting and/or public company environments.
  • Experience supporting accounting and financial reporting in a complex organization.
  • Experience with complex consolidations and intercompany accounting.
  • ERP systems experience; Oracle Cloud preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in ASC 730, ASC 360, ASC 606, ASC 842 and related transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting.
  • Experience preparing technical memos, researching guidance, and evaluating complex transactions.
  • Experience with MD&A and SEC filings.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with external auditors and SOX readiness preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support on technical accounting matters with memos and white papers.
  • Offer accounting guidance for proposed transactions to ensure GAAP conformity.
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource guiding complex issues.
  • Support Controllers on technical accounting matters and training.
  • Assist financial reporting processes and maintain technical accounting policies.
  • Collaborate with Ops, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal and others for accurate reporting.
  • Communicate complex financial information to stakeholders clearly.
  • Support quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosures under US GAAP.
  • Conduct accounting research and stay current on GAAP/regulatory changes.
  • Document significant accounting matters in the reporting process.
  • Prepare reporting packages for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and address inquiries; be a point of contact.
  • Support special projects including SOX, automation, due diligence, and improvements.
  • Work with Director and accounting leadership on complex matters.

Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting

This is a senior-level accounting professional responsible for supporting technical accounting and financial reporting functions across a diverse and evolving organization. This position provides technical accounting expertise and supports the financial reporting function of the Company. The role helps ensure accurate financial statements, appropriate accounting treatment, effective internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support on technical accounting matters, including technical accounting memos and white paper authoring.
  • Provide accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to ensure conformity with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource and help guide the organization through complex accounting issues.
  • Support the Controllers organization on technical accounting matters and provide guidance and training as appropriate.
  • Support financial reporting processes, including assessing, implementing, and maintaining technical accounting policies.
  • Collaborate with Operations, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other departments to ensure alignment and accurate reporting.
  • Communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Support the quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosure processes, ensuring financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct accounting research and stay current on U.S. GAAP, accounting standards, and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure significant accounting matters are appropriately evaluated and documented as part of the financial reporting process.
  • Assist in preparing reporting packages for executive leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting and financial reporting operations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, including preparing supporting documentation and addressing auditor inquiries. Serve as a key point of contact for complex accounting matters.
  • Support special projects as required by management, including automation around accounting processes and financial reporting, due diligence, SOX readiness, and continuous process improvements.
  • Work closely with the Director and other members of the accounting leadership team on complex accounting matters and financial reporting initiatives.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in Big 4 public accounting and/or public company environments.
  • Experience supporting accounting and financial reporting in a complex, multi-business or rapidly evolving organization.

Job Details:

Salary Range Level X: $173,579 - $231,439

*We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individuals qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
