Job summary

Cherry Bekaert, a leading U.S. accounting and advisory firm, seeks a State C&I Senior Manager to oversee complex multi-jurisdictional engagements and drive strategic advisory services for tax credits and incentives.

You will lead negotiations with government agencies, mentor high-performance teams, and expand client opportunities while ensuring delivery excellence and alignment with business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, engineering, technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in tax consulting, advisory, or public accounting with deep expertise in State Credits & Incentives.
• Demonstrated success managing complex engagements and advising clients at executive or C-suite level.
• Proven people leadership experience including mentoring, team development, and performance management.
• Strong business development skills to identify, pursue, and close new opportunities.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills; ability to translate complex matters into actionable business insights.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic advisor to clients on state and local tax credits, incentives, and economic development programs.
• Lead and oversee large, multi-jurisdictional engagements with focus on technical excellence and timely delivery.
• Direct and manage negotiations with state and local government agencies on grants, bonds, land and infrastructure incentives, loans and waivers.
• Provide executive-level guidance on employment growth, labor retention, and training strategies aligned with client objectives.
• Own and manage key client relationships and proactively identify advisory opportunities.
• Drive business development through proposals, client presentations, thought leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
