Job summary

MACOM, based in Lowell, MA, is seeking a Commodity Manager – Mechanical to lead strategic sourcing for machining and related spend categories. You will drive supplier performance, cost savings, and lead-time management while ensuring supply continuity and quality. Travel about 20% and reporting to the Director of Sourcing.

The role emphasizes mechanical expertise, supplier engagement during development, and experience with SAP/Office tools to optimize procurement processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience in sourcing and managing complex mechanical assemblies.
• Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and SAP.
• Preferred experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
• Due to ITAR regulations, only U.S. Persons will be considered for this position.

Commodity Manager – Mechanical

The Commodity Manager leads the development and execution ofMACOM’s sourcing strategies for machining, mechanical, and related spendcategories. This role drives supplier performance, supports sourcing decisions,and ensures continuity of supply, optimal total acquisition cost, lead timemanagement, on‑time delivery, and product quality. This position reports to the Director of Sourcing, is based at a site in Lowell, MA, and requires approximately 20% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies andlead teams to meet project timelines, cost targets, and supplierperformance objectives.

• Mechanical & Technical Expertise
  
• Strong knowledge of machining, CNC, sheet metal,injection molding, castings, tooling, materials, and GD&T.
• Ability to interpret and challenge complex mechanicaldrawings and specifications.

Negotiation & Supplier Management:

• Advanced negotiation skills across contracts,supplier agreements, and conflict resolution.
  
• Proven success in delivering cost savings and drivingcontinuous improvement initiatives.

• Proficiency with Excel and Power BI.

Leadership & Communication:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relateddiscipline.

The Salary Range for this position is $97,900 - $166,000.Actual salary offered to candidates will depend on several factors, includingbut not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education,and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
