Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree or certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience required.
  • Experience in US Defense Industry preferred (FAR/DFAR knowledge a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Familiarity with SAP preferred.

  • Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans aligned with project goals and objectives.
  • Lead a team of purchasing professionals and provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Collaborate with Sr Buyers, Purchasing Managers, and other internal and external customers to understand requirements, specifications, and timelines to proactively plan procurement activities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors based on capabilities, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and quality of goods and services.
  • Oversee the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Analyze data and generate and maintain reports on main purchasing activities, performance, and cost savings for senior management.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on execution project plan(s), including finance, operations, and legal, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of purchasing activities.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of our business processes, operations, and financial data to identify areas of potential value creation and improvement.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure effectiveness of value capture initiatives and track progress towards financial and timing goals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to value capture and recommend innovative approaches to enhance business performance.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans aligned with project goals and objectives

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field required; high school diploma or GED required

  • Advanced degree or certification is a plus

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in Procurement required

  • Experience in US Defense Industry preferred (understanding of basic FAR / DFAR requirements is a plus)

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities

  • Strong knowledge of direct material purchasing within a complex manufacturing environment, including machined components, castings, forgings, fabricated assemblies, electronics, and other purchased materials.

  • Strong Commodity Management analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, and present data, draw meaningful insights, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive initiatives to completion

  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance considerations

  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Familiarity with SAP preferred


PHYSICAL EFFORT


  • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus

  • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate

  • Concentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes. This role is often fast paced, so being able to maintain focus at all times is important
