Position Summary:

This is a high-profile role working closely with Senior Leadership to drive successful development and implementation of global visual and written content, entertainment marketing opportunities and productions. This is an important, strategic role in the implementation of public relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for the organization. This team member should be a skilled, seasoned communications and public relations professional, capable of providing expert advice to senior executives, directing major projects and project teams, and producing content of the highest caliber. Sound professional instincts, the ability to manage important internal and external relationships, and deep professional knowledge are required, since the team member will be the face and voice of the brand on important projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The Senior PR Manager will work in collaboration with the Director of PR to drive the strategy for external earned media first content, productions, written communications and events. They will be responsible for the implementation of this strategy globally and work with the earned media team across our key markets, entertainment marketing agencies and other team members to generate strong brand awareness and media exposure in tier 1 titles with high editorial quality scores in line with the brand’s measurement KPIs.
  2. Develops, manages, and executes strategies to create impactful global visual content strategies for Royal Caribbean International, subject matter experts, products & services, and events.
  3. Works with regional teams, including Head of PR, to strategize and develop content that resonates with local audiences.
  4. Oversees the Royal Caribbean global press center and creation of all related content.
  5. Responsible for reviewing and analyzing analytics of content strategies and converting data into actionable content recommendations/improvements.
  6. Owns and manages significant communications programs, which may include external content production, TV/film opportunities, and events across Royal’s key markets.
  7. Oversees the creation of videos, photos, infographics and more in partnership with video editors and designers and independently develop and execute innovative content strategies that support business priorities and media relations efforts globally.
  8. Assists with written communications, including press releases, executive communications (internal and external letters, speeches, etc.), statements, and editing content, pitching content ideas.
  9. Leads and coaches subject matter experts such as senior media relations professionals, speechwriters, project managers, and other key contributors.
  10. Directs the activities of external agencies and internal teams as needed.
  11. Builds and maintains key professional relationships with key internal stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, and RCG Corporate Communications.
  12. Independently develops and executes appropriate strategies to address communications challenges.
  13. Provides leadership to supporting internal clients on project teams.
  14. Serves as leading-edge subject-matter expert on key professional disciplines.

People:

This role is responsible for the management, motivation and personal development of the team including an ongoing program of mentoring and skills development, the setting of objectives and regular appraisals.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
  2. 10+ years of PR experience in PR agency, public relations, journalism or corporate communications experience; travel industry experience is a plus.
  3. Excellent writing skills and creative mindset. Press release writing, story narrative and message creation experience a plus.
  4. Proven experience in a strategic leadership role, managing numerous internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Understanding of emerging media trends, content trends, social media and influencers.
  6. Strong ability to interact with senior executive team and build effective relationships within the company, public, guests and media.
  7. Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel as appropriate (domestic & international).
  8. Excellent relationship builder – ability to create, foster and leverage relationships to achieve outstanding results.
  9. Experience managing relationships with a PR agency.
  10. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  11. Strong planning capabilities to identify and prioritize communication strategies and activities as well as to meet the deadlines required to support communications and business needs.
  12. Ability to remain calm and non-confrontational regardless of the situation.
  13. Ability to build relationships, liaise and coordinate cross-functionally across teams.
  14. Good presence – able to quickly gain the confidence of senior management.
  15. Matrix and multi-national organization experience preferred.
  16. Demonstrated success in planning and implementing integrated PR campaigns with a proven impact on the bottom line.
  17. Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner.
  18. Demonstrate the ability to quickly analyze situations and alternatives and make prudent decisions.
  19. Finger on the pulse – always up to date with trends, both inside and outside our industry.
  20. Computer literate (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, email).
  21. Outstanding English language proficiency. Proficiency in Spanish desirable.
  22. Excellent research, written, verbal and presentation skills.
  23. Goal oriented and action-focused, practical, and self-disciplined.
  24. Effortlessly organized self-motivator with a wealth of creative ideas.
