Senior Manager, Project Management- Data Operations

About the team:

Enterprise Data is responsible for helping drive and evolve Capital One’s data journey. Our products support our data producers and consumers as they drive business processes and innovation across all corners of the company. Our Data Operations team in Enterprise Data is reimagining how we enable acceleration of our data journey.

About the role:

As a member of the Data Operations team, you will partner closely with Enterprise Services’ two Divisional Data Officers (DDOs) to ensure the division achieves target outcomes related to company-wide data initiatives such as adoption of Enterprise Data Publishing and Storage platforms. In doing so, you will partner closely with Enterprise Services’ numerous data producers and consumers, technical teams, product teams, and data risk managers to maintain completion schedules, identify emerging risks and issues, and escalate impediments. This body of work enables Capital One to power real time, intelligent customer experiences with great data-- data that is well managed and easy to govern across Enterprise Services.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in technical delivery and dependency tracking, organizing and facilitating large groups, taking a proactive approach in identifying what is needed to be successful and collaborating to meet those needs. We will have a large cadre of associates working across the company to realize our corporate objectives and it will be important to develop strong relationships with them in order to come together as a team.

You will be interfacing across Enterprise Services’ business units and stakeholders from a variety of job families and roles, including high-level executives. Compelling storytelling and presentation delivery skills will ensure that these stakeholders remain not only informed, but engaged in the meaningful work being delivered. During the course of this work you will become a subject matter expert and a valuable resource for helping others within the organization understand the breadth and impact of the deliverables.

General Responsibilities:

1. Lead planning, tracking and successful completion of multiple, inter-related data projects by providing strategic direction to projects, peers, domain experts, and senior leaders
2. Proactively identify and escalate project risks to key stakeholders including Enterprise Services’ two Divisional Data Officers (DDOs), Data Program Office leadership and others
3. Create detailed presentation materials which convey project progress and technical impediments to be shared with the most senior-level stakeholders, including ES’ two DDOs, on a monthly basis
4. Build relationships and collaborate with key senior stakeholders across product and engineering teams to ensure delivery of commitments
5. Leverage project management best practices to ensure projects are being documented appropriately to mitigate risk and to be delivered on time
6. Use problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent

Basic Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
2. At least 5 Years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

1. At least 2 years of Technology Management experience
2. Experience or knowledge of data publishing and tools like Snowflake/Databricks
3. At least 8 years of Project Management experience
4. PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
5. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
6. Excellent problem solving and influencing skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr Manager, Project Management
New York, NY: $186,300 - $212,700 for Sr Manager, Project Management
Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr Manager, Project Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
