Xometry is looking for a Senior Manager of Product Design to lead a team of designers within one or more Strategic Product and Technology Organizations (STOs). You are accountable for delivery, quality, and team performance. This is not a coordination role. You are responsible for ensuring your team delivers clear, high-quality, executable design work on time, with no surprises through leadership and hands‑on execution. You will partner with Product and Engineering leadership to shape direction, enforce standards, and remove ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of designers (Senior and mid-level)
• Set clear expectations for ownership, quality, and communication
• Hold designers accountable for outcomes, not just outputs
• Address performance issues directly and quickly
• Ensure work is complete, structured, and ready for Engineering
• Enforce a clear definition of done
• Surface risks and tradeoffs early
• Partner with Product and Engineering to define scope and priorities
• Ensure UX is influencing direction, not reacting to requirements
• Resolve ambiguity and alignment issues quickly
• Ensure design outputs are structured and unambiguous
• Support workflows that enable AI‑assisted development
• Drive adoption of tools and practices that improve speed and reduce rework
• Maintain a high bar for interaction design, usability, and consistency
• Ensure alignment with design systems and accessibility standards
• Lead design reviews focused on clarity and execution readiness

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in user research, including 2+ years managing researchers
• Proven track record of driving product decisions through research
• Experience working closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams
• Strong ability to translate insights into clear recommendations
• Experience operating in fast‑paced, product‑driven environments
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills
• Examples of AI‑assisted workflows in portfolio (e.g., AI‑generated prototypes, prompt‑driven design systems, AI‑supported research synthesis)
• Experience with B2B, marketplace, or operational platforms
• Experience working with design systems and component‑based design
• Exposure to AI‑assisted design or development workflows
• Experience scaling teams or processes in growing organizations

The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $180,000–$200,000 annually + commission depending on factors such as job‑related skills, relevant experience, and location.
