Job summary
CVS Health is seeking a Senior Manager of Platform Engineering/DevOps to lead enterprise‑scale cloud platforms and mentor a growing team of engineers. You will drive Google Cloud Platform–based capabilities, enforce standards, and partner with security, networking, and applications teams to ensure secure, scalable operations.

Qualifications
- 7+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE.
- 4+ years in team leadership, managing mid-sized teams (5–10 engineers).
- 3+ years with GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/KCC/Kustomize).
- 4+ years with Agile/Scrum, incident management, cross-team coordination.
- 1+ years with AI-driven operations or automation.
- 3+ years cloud networking (VPCs, routing, load balancing, firewalls, DNS).
- 3+ years in production support and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities
- Own and execute the H100 platform engineering roadmap and deliver enterprise-grade platform capabilities.
- Drive GCP-based platform capabilities (GKE, IAM, networking, CI/CD, observability).
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, ADRs, security and governance.
- Partner with security, networking, applications and other stakeholders to coordinate delivery.
- Provide status reporting, risk mitigation and capacity planning across streams.
- Coordinate dependencies and act as technical delivery lead for platform discussions.
- Oversee GCP landing zone components (IAM, networking).
- Guide GitOps adoption (Config Sync, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions) and CI/CD frameworks.
- Monitor platform SLOs and operational metrics (uptime, MTTR, deployment frequency).
- Identify risks, capacity constraints and opportunities for automation.
- Lead incident response, post-mortems, runbooks and on-call readiness.
- Mentor engineers, support onboarding, and promote continuous improvement.
- Drive automation and AI-driven operations initiatives and security tooling.
- Support strategic sprint planning and resource allocation across teams.

You are an experienced Senior Manager / emerging Staff-level leader in DevOps and Platform Engineering with strong technical depth and demonstrated leadership in delivering enterprise-scale cloud platforms. You bring a balanced mix of hands‑on engineering expertise, team leadership, and execution rigor. You excel in driving outcomes in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments, guiding teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑quality platform solutions. You are comfortable leading engineers, managing stakeholders, and owning delivery across multiple workstreams.
You demonstrate:
- A strong ownership mindset with accountability for delivery and outcomes

- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance requirements (SOC2, HIPAA)
- Partner with client stakeholders and cross‑functional teams (security, networking, applications)
- Provide clear status reporting, risk identification, and mitigation strategies
- Coordinate dependencies across teams and delivery streams
- Act as a technical and delivery point of contact for platform‑related discussions
- Oversee implementation of GCP landing zone components (resource hierarchy, IAM, networking)
- Guide adoption of GitOps models and CI/CD frameworks (Config Sync, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions)
- Monitor platform SLOs and operational metrics (uptime, MTTR, deployment frequency)
- Identify risks, capacity constraints, and improvement opportunities
- Lead incident response and escalation management, including post‑mortems
- Ensure availability of runbooks, documentation, and operational procedures
- Support SRE practices and production readiness models
- Maintain platform reliability and operational stability
- Lead a team of engineers (FTEs + contractors)
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance direction
- Support knowledge sharing and onboarding for contractor teams
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
- Identify opportunities for automation and platform optimization
- Support integration of AI‑driven operations and intelligent tooling
- Evaluate tools related to cloud security posture and DevOps efficiency
- Encourage adoption of modern platform engineering practices
- Drive sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and Agile execution

- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE
- 4+ years of experience in team leadership, management, or technical lead roles, leading mid‑sized teams (5 to 10 engineers)
- 3+ years of experience with the following technical foundations:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (GKE, IAM, networking, monitoring)
- Kubernetes and container‑based systems
- CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, KCC, Kustomize)
- 4+ years of experience with:
- Agile/Scrum delivery and sprint execution
- Incident management and operational support (SRE practices)
- Cross‑team coordination and stakeholder communication
- 1+ years of experience with AI‑driven operations or automation frameworks
- 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, load balancing, firewalls, DNS, hybrid connectivity, and secure communication between applications
- 3+ years of experience working in a support/production environment and participating in periodic on‑call rotations
- 3+ years of experience with any of the following databases: SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, Cloud Spanner, or Kafka
- Ability to manage delivery in structured programs with multiple dependencies
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare)
- Certifications such as:
- PMP, Scrum Master (CSM), or SAFe
- GCP Professional Cloud Architect
- Exposure to:
- Cloud security tools (Wiz, SCC)
- Networking/security platforms (Palo Alto, F5)
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience (High School diploma + 4 years of relevant experience).
The typical pay range for this role is:
$118,450.00 - $284,280.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
