Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN seeks a Senior Pharmacy Manager – Clinical Practice to lead advanced clinical programs in oncology/hematology. You will shape services, ensure safety and optimized patient outcomes, and mentor teams across multiple sites in the Mayo Clinic Health System.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • Completion of PGY2 Oncology; or PGY1 plus 2 years hematology/oncology experience; or 4 years hematology/oncology practice.
  • Active clinical practice in Medical Oncology or Hematology; strong teamwork and patient care commitment.
  • Board Certification in a clinical specialty within two years.

Responsibilities

The Senior Pharmacy Manager – Clinical Practice is a member of a broader local pharmacy leadership team and is responsible for managing clinical pharmacy programs and services to one of the following:

  • An area that is complex, multi-faceted, specialty-based, large and/or high volume consistent with the quaternary medical center and clinic in Rochester; or
  • Multiple sites in the Mayo Clinic Health System that includes a larger “hub” hospital site along with other hospitals and clinic sites.

This individual is a recognized pharmacy leader and provides strong, visible, values driven leadership and advocacy for clinical pharmacy. Manages, implements and coordinates a comprehensive clinical pharmacy program that is aligned with the overall department program, incorporates best practice, emphasizes the safety and optimized outcomes for our patients, and delivers the highest value care to our patients and the organization. Provides progressive clinical pharmacy services in area of specialty. Ensures incorporation, alignment with and support of departmental and institutional strategic vision, direction and priorities. Manages the clinical pharmacy program to ensure that all quality, legal, regulatory and accreditation standards are met or exceeded. Actively participates in and supports pharmacy education programs and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Completion of an accredit PGY2 pharmacy residency (Oncology); or completion of an accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency and a minimum of 2 years applicable pharmacy experience (hematology/oncology practice); or a minimum of 4 years applicable pharmacy experience (hematology/oncology practice). Applicable experience includes providing, developing, implementing and overseeing progressive clinical pharmacy services in an integrated healthcare system and/or proven history of providing progressive clinical pharmacy services and leadership as a pharmacist. Strong commitment and evidence of achieving excellence. Proven history of successfully working in a team environment. Communicates effectively. Proven history of a commitment to patient care and alignment with Mayo Clinic values.

Candidate will be required to maintain an active clinical practice in either a Medical Oncology or Hematology clinic.

Board Certified by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties in a clinical specialty (Required within two years).

The following are preferred:
  • Previous supervisory/management experience.
  • Research experience as a research investigator or leading a pharmacy-based research program.
  • Completion of leadership or management educational programs (e.g. ASHP leadership program, Mayo programs).
  • History of active participation and leadership in pharmacy professional organizations.
License/Certification

Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state he/she is located, or eligible to obtain. May not independently fulfill responsibilities reserved only to a pharmacist until license is obtained.
