Job summary

Clark Schaefer Hackett is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Outsource Accounting (CAAS) practice with a flexible/hybrid work arrangement. This role focuses on client relationships, technical excellence, and team development across a portfolio of outsourced engagements.

You will manage U.S. and Mumbai delivery teams, oversee engagement economics, and look for opportunities to expand services and advisory solutions while maintaining exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including outsourced accounting or CAS/CAAS.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong understanding of accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Active CPA license and/or MBA strongly preferred.
• Experience with distributed or offshore delivery teams is a plus.

• Serve as senior technical reviewer and trusted advisor for a diverse portfolio of outsourced accounting clients.
• Lead and develop a team of Managers and accounting professionals across U.S. and Mumbai delivery teams.
• Build strong relationships with business owners, executives, lenders, tax professionals, auditors, and other trusted advisors.
• Oversee engagement economics, including pricing, realization, staffing, and capacity planning.
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through additional services, referrals, and advisory solutions.
• Help clients determine when they've outgrown after-the-fact accounting services and guide them toward more strategic accounting and finance solutions.
• Drive a culture of accountability, quality, continuous improvement, and exceptional client service.

We're seeking a Senior Manager to help lead our Outsource Accounting practice. This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for client relationships, technical excellence, team development, operational performance, and growth across a portfolio of outsourced accounting engagements.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in outsourced accounting, client accounting services, controllership, or related disciplines.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong understanding of accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close processes, and client service delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple client relationships while balancing quality, profitability, and team utilization.
• Proven success developing business, expanding client relationships, generating referrals, or cross-selling services.
• Active CPA license and/or MBA strongly preferred.
• Experience working with distributed or offshore delivery teams is a plus.

Candidates may have experience in areas such as:

• Client Accounting Services (CAS) or Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS)
• Outsourced Accounting, Outsourced Finance, Virtual Controller, or Fractional CFO environments
• Month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger management
• Compilation engagements and after-the-fact accounting services
• QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Sage 50, and cloud-based accounting platforms
• Multi-client portfolio management within a public accounting or outsourced accounting environment
• Team leadership, coaching, performance management, and capacity planning
• Business development, client expansion, cross-selling, and referral generation
• Process improvement, workflow automation, and technology-enabled accounting solutions
• Professional service firms, closely held businesses, family-owned businesses, and middle-market organizations
