Job summary

H2O Innovation seeks a Senior Manager of Project Construction to lead large water and wastewater programs across the East Coast. This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget compliance while maintaining safety standards.

You will review designs, manage preconstruction activities, mentor field teams, and collaborate with business development for proposals, travelling as needed on complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in construction management and field operations in water/wastewater.
• Certifications CCM or PE preferred.
• Knowledge of CMAR, DB, and DBB delivery methods.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with client interaction.

Responsibilities

• Manage preconstruction activities, design reviews, procurement, and bidding.
• Oversee QA/QC programs and ensure safety compliance on projects.
• Lead construction execution to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
• Serve as owner’s representative and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Conduct progress meetings and provide clear status updates.
• Identify risks, monitor schedules, and control costs.
• Collaborate with BD for proposals and marketing materials.
• Ensure timely invoicing and rigorous budget reporting.
• Develop and mentor field teams for effective communication and delivery.

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager of Project Construction with experience in water and wastewater infrastructure, including pump stations, pressure pipelines, gravity pipelines, and treatment plants. This position will be partly remote, with projects focused mainly on the East Coast of the United States.

The Manager of Project Construction will oversee the execution and management of water and wastewater projects, providing leadership and technical guidance throughout the construction process. This position includes planning, organizing, and supervising construction activities for projects of significant size and complexity. The role will involve reviewing scope, budget, and schedules, while supervising the completion of projects and ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld.

The Day-to-Day

• Manage preconstruction activities, including design review, procurement, and bidding;
• Implement, oversee, and maintain quality assurance and quality control programs;
• Lead and support the successful execution of construction projects, ensuring delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget;
• Serve as the owner’s representative, managing program and project execution with a value-added approach;
• Conduct and attend project progress meetings, providing clear updates to stakeholders;
• Identify and mitigate construction risks, monitor project schedules, and control associated costs;
• Collaborate with business development teams to create proposals and marketing materials for new opportunities;
• Ensure timely invoicing and accurate cost reporting for assigned projects, maintaining budget controls;
• Develop, mentor, and manage field teams to ensure effective communication, teamwork, and execution;
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for all construction activities;
• Provide technical expertise in water and wastewater infrastructure, including reviewing and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

The Skills We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered;
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management and field operations, particularly in water and wastewater infrastructure;
• Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects;
• Relevant certifications in water and wastewater construction management, such as CCM (Certified Construction Manager) or PE (Professional Engineer);
• Extensive knowledge of construction principles, methods, and technologies related to water and wastewater facilities;
• Familiarity with alternative delivery methods, including CMAR, DB, and DBB;
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations;
• Proficiency in project management software and field inspection tools;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to clients, public groups, and internal teams;
• Strong problem-solving abilities, including data analysis and decision-making under pressure;
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and mentor staff;
• Ability to prepare and manage budgets, contracts, and project costs effectively;
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record;
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (greater than 50%).
