Job summary

H2O Innovation is seeking a Senior Manager of Project Construction to lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the East Coast, with a focus on major facilities and pump stations. The role combines strategic oversight, technical guidance, and hands-on leadership for project teams.

The position is partly remote with travel >50% to sites. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in construction management, CMAR/DBB experience, and strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction mgmt, CE, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management and field operations, especially in water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Certifications in water/wastewater construction mgmt, such as CCM or PE.
  • Knowledge of construction principles, methods, and technologies for water/wastewater facilities.
  • Familiarity with CMAR, DB, DBB delivery methods.
  • Understanding of environmental laws and regulations at federal/state/local levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software and field inspection tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present to clients and groups.
  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis and decision-making under pressure.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills to mentor staff.
  • Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and project costs.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel >50% to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Manage preconstruction activities including design review, procurement, and bidding.
  • Implement and maintain QA/QC programs.
  • Lead and support successful construction project execution aligned with scope, schedule, budget.
  • Serve as owner’s representative, with value-added approach.
  • Attend project progress meetings and provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate construction risks and control costs.
  • Collaborate with business development to create proposals and marketing materials.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and accurate cost reporting.
  • Develop, mentor, and manage field teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise in water/wastewater infra, reviewing drawings and specs.

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager of Project Construction with experience in water and wastewater infrastructure, including pump stations, pressure pipelines, gravity pipelines, and treatment plants. This position will be partly remote, with projects focused mainly on the East Coast of the United States.

The Manager of Project Construction will oversee the execution and management of water and wastewater projects, providing leadership and technical guidance throughout the construction process. This position includes planning, organizing, and supervising construction activities for projects of significant size and complexity. The role will involve reviewing scope, budget, and schedules, while supervising the completion of projects and ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld.

The Day-to-Day
  • Manage preconstruction activities, including design review, procurement, and bidding

The Skills We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management and field operations, particularly in water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Relevant certifications in water and wastewater construction management, such as CCM (Certified Construction Manager) or PE (Professional Engineer)
  • Extensive knowledge of construction principles, methods, and technologies related to water and wastewater facilities
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods, including CMAR, DB, and DBB
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in project management software and field inspection tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to clients, public groups, and internal teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, including data analysis and decision-making under pressure
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and mentor staff
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets, contracts, and project costs effectively
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (greater than 50%)
