Job summary

HiveWatch, based in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Sr. Manager of Engineering to lead a high‑performing SRE/DevOps team across product value streams from our HQ. You will mentor software and infra engineers, ensure SLAs, and help scale in a dynamic Series B setting.

You’ll partner with Product, drive hiring, manage performance, and collaborate with engineering, product, sales, and marketing to translate roadmaps into executable plans while maintaining a culture of ownership and excellence.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Sr. Manager of Engineering, you will be managing a high-performing SRE/DevOps squad of engineers covering our product value streams from our HQ in El Segundo, CA. This role will report directly to our VP, Engineering. This team will be responsible for making sure our service level objectives are met to delight our customers. You will mentor, lead, and grow our team of software and infra engineers while operating effectively in a Series B environment—comfortable with ambiguity, lean process, and rolling up your sleeves into code, design reviews, or incident response when the situation calls for it.

As Senior Manager of Engineering you will also:

• Drive hiring strategy and close top engineering talent
• Motivate and communicate across multiple levels of their department
• Have successful peer partnerships with other department leaders in Engineering, and cross-functionally (product, sales, marketing, etc)
• Partner closely with Product leadership to translate roadmap into executable engineering plans, including running prioritization and trade‑off conversations
• Development, measurement, and management of key metrics for team performance

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent communication skills
• Expert hiring manager skills and experience
• A well developed people management philosophy for engineers
• Experience supporting enterprise customers (Fortune 500 or regulated industries) with high-touch deployments and uptime expectations
• Experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones (e.g., US plus Europe or LATAM)
• Has directly owned performance management cycles, including coaching, leveling, and exiting under performers
• Preferred: experience scaling an engineering org through Series B to C growth
• Agile/kanban project management skills
• Commitment to understand, communicate and improve the quality of multiple teams
• Humble, servant leader

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, 3+ years of leadership experience
• 3+ years production operations experience
• Strong debugging skills across distributed systems and microservices architectures

ADDITIONAL INFO

• Salary range for this position: $203,000 to $250,000 per year
• Eligible to participate in HiveWatch Equity Incentive Plan
