Job summary

Helion Energy in Everett, WA, is seeking a senior leader to drive the mechanical hardware design of high-performance structural systems for our fusion devices. You will grow a multidisciplinary team, set technical standards, and accelerate innovation onsite at our Everett headquarters.

You will guide architecture decisions on shielding and primary structures, oversee design, analysis, and manufacturing improvements, and collaborate with Research, Science, Electrical, and Controls to meet program

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 10+ years of structural/mechanical engineering experience, including 3+ years in an engineering management role.
• Demonstrated ability to hire and grow engineers providing impactful career development.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams with full-scope project ownership.
• Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects with schedule accountability.
• Hands-on exposure to mechanical, thermal, and large structures.
• Ability to apply engineering first-principles and structured problem-solving to technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Grow and mentor a team of multidisciplinary structural and mechanical engineers.
• Oversee design of machine architecture, high-performance structural systems, shielding, and piece part + assembly design.
• Drive high-level architectural decisions on neutron shielding, primary structures, racking, and plant design schemes.
• Lead design, analysis, and manufacturing process improvements to increase throughput.
• Collaborate with Research, Science, Electrical, and Controls teams to derive requirements and meet program goals.
