Job summary

Blackfield Associates are partnering with a key biopharmaceutical manufacturing partner to recruit a Senior IT Manager for an API facility in Raleigh, North Carolina. The role leads IT SMEs, oversees application support, and drives continuous improvement across manufacturing IT systems.

You will ensure a stable, scalable, and compliant IT landscape, manage 24/7 service delivery, and collaborate with business, automation, and global IT stakeholders to align IT strategy with production needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Automation with 7+ years IT/automation experience ( GMP preferred).
• Proven people leadership or project management leadership experience.
• Experience leading 24/7 IT support in manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of IT applications, lifecycle management, infrastructure, and end-to-end tech environments.
• Experience in GMP/GxP regulated pharma or life sciences manufacturing.

Summary:

Blackfield Associates are supporting one of our key biopharmaceutical manufacturing partners in their search for a Senior IT Manager to support at their state-of-the-art API manufacturing facility in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This is a senior IT leadership position responsible for ensuring a stable, compliant, scalable, and high-performing IT landscape to support manufacturing operations. You will lead IT SME's, oversee application support, drive continuous improvement, and partner closely with business, manufacturing, automation, and global IT stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, coach, and develop teams of IT subject matter experts, creating a high-performing collaborative environment.
• Provide strategic direction for site IT applications, systems, infrastructure, and support services.
• Ensure a stable, scalable, and compliant IT landscape supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Oversee application support, 24/7 service delivery, issue resolution, escalation, and operational support.
• Establish and manage service processes, SLAs, KPIs, and performance measures.
• Drive technical discussions, structured problem solving, continuous improvement, and accountability.
• Ensure IT systems and processes meet production and business requirements.
• Ensure application changes and system lifecycle activities comply with Computer System Validation (CSV), GxP, and internal IT governance requirements.
• Provide site leadership with visibility of IT issues, risks, projects, and strategic initiatives.
• Develop IT strategies aligned with production requirements, future capacity, and digital transformation.
• Identify and implement technologies that improve manufacturing performance and operational efficiency.
• Drive LEAN management and continuous improvement across the department.
• Support regulatory compliance, audits, inspections, and GxP documentation.
• Maintain effective IT governance, business continuity, forecasting, and service management processes.
• Mentor colleagues and collaborate globally to establish standards and share best practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Automation, or a related field with 7+ years of IT or automation experience, preferably within GMP manufacturing. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience is okay.
• Proven people leadership OR project management leadership experience.
• Experience leading or establishing 24/7 IT support and service organizations within manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Strong experience with IT applications, system lifecycle management, infrastructure, and end-to-end technology environments.
• Previous experience within a GMP/GxP-regulated pharmaceutical or life sciences manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GxP documentation, Computer System Validation, IT governance, regulatory audits, and inspections.
• Experience developing IT strategies, policies, support models, and operational processes.
• Strong digital transformation and manufacturing technology experience.
• Proven ability to lead technical problem solving, service improvement, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across site and global teams.
• Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies is advantageous.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing teams and managing performance.
