Job summary

AMD is seeking a computational science leader to guide a highly educated team in delivering high-quality HPC and AI applications for AMD GPU products. You will work hands-on, interact with customers and partners, and coordinate across AMD and external teams to shape solutions for AI and data-center workloads.

The role requires a PhD or equivalent, strong leadership, and proven experience managing distributed teams, with a track record in HPC and AI software stacks.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in CS/EE or related computing domains.
  • Proven track record leading software teams.
  • Experience with HPC and AI software stacks.
  • Experience with Jira or similar PM tools in Agile.
  • Ability to interact with customers and partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including exec presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of scientific domain experts to adapt HPC/AI apps for AMD hardware.
  • Lead full system performance attainment for Exascale-class customers.
  • Coordinate technical content for customer RFPs and business proposals.
  • Drive the delivery of Exascale ready applications to AMD units and customers.
  • Manage internal HPC system admins to support the team’s work.
  • Interact with stakeholders to establish program requirements and schedules.
  • Work with other AMD teams to improve AMD development software products.

THE ROLE:

You will work closely withstakeholders, diverseteamswithin AMD,external code owners,andcustomers tolead a development team in delivering high quality andperformantHPCand AIapplications for use on AMD GPU products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team of talentedscientificdomain experts,computational scientists, and performance optimization engineers to adaptandoptimizeHPCand AIapplications toperformon AMD hardware
  • Leadfull system application performance attainment forExascale-classcustomers
  • Lead and coordinate technical content for customer RFPs and business proposals
  • Drive the delivery of Exascale ready applications to AMD business units and customers
  • Manage internal HPC development systemadmins to supportthe team’s work
  • Interact with stakeholders toestablishprogram requirements and schedules
  • Work with otherAMDteams to continuously improve AMD development software products

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstratedtrack recordofsoftware team management
  • Technicalexpertiseinfoundational science,computer science, computer architecture,orcomputationalmathematics, and experience inone or more of the followingdomains:
    • Computational Chemistry
    • Computational Geophysics
    • Oil and Gas applications
    • Weather Modelling
    • Applied Mathematics
    • AI/ML
  • Experience with JIRA or similar project management environment, ideally in an Agile software development environment.
  • Experience with HPC and AI software stacks
  • Experiencemanaging andcollaborating across a geographically distributed team (AMD has sites acrossNorth America, in Europe, and Asia)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations
  • Experience withlarge machine procurement processesand export control compliance is a plus

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • PhDorequivalentaccomplishmentsinComputer Science, Electrical/ComputerEngineeringor relatedscientific computing domains

A successful candidate must be eligible for a U.S. Department of Energy Q-level access authorization.
