As this is a hybrid role, working out of our Creative Studios in Westlake, Ohio, we will focus on candidates who currently reside in Northeast Ohio.

American Greetings is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, FP&A who thrives on change and approaches all facets of the job with a continuous improvement mindset. The Senior Manager will provide strategic, analytical and tactical finance leadership to the supply chain of American Greetings. This position will work with business unit and supply chain leadership to maximize profitable growth and streamline business spending. It will drive coordination between our commercial and supply chain functions to make profitable business decisions by providing business analysis and identifying key cost drivers for investment and margin expectations. The role will split the supply chain responsibility with another Sr Finance Manager, focusing on the Manufacturing and Distribution aspects of supply chain as well as supporting cash flow forecasting and other key areas including our Transformation Management Office (TMO).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Manufacturing and Distribution aspects of supply chain within the FP&A department.
  • Responsible for monthly financial reporting related to the above as well as developing long-term strategic plans, annual operating plans, business metrics, and capital requests.
  • Work closely with accounting to understand how actuals will flow and ensure the forecasting process is aligned.
  • Provide financial decision support to business units and supply chain leadership teams.
  • Connect operational decisions and activities to financial statements and results.
  • Support commercial and financial strategies enabled by effective planning, measurement and reporting.
  • Identify new opportunities for cost savings and incorporate best in class business processes working closely with our TMO process.
  • Manage financial analytical support for the global supply functions and support the operational management team (Manufacturing, Distribution, Asia Supply and Corporate Transportation) to achieve their financial targets.
  • Develop and manage financial reporting and forecasting tools for above referenced global supply functions.
  • Analyze and report actions causing operational spending, variances and manufacturing / distribution / transportation variances to plan, forecast and prior year.
  • Prepare costing models and financial analysis for product “make vs. buy” decisions.
  • Assist in capital appropriation requests and programs as well as review assumptions and financial impact of each capital request.
  • Prepare operational and financial modeling for special projects and long-term supply chain strategies.
  • Coordinate the development of product standard costs and ensure cost-of-goods-sold are accurately portrayed in financial statements.
  • Facilitate and strengthen communications and business relationship between finance and the other functional areas of the business.
  • Assist with the overall cash flow forecast including the overall process and various required inputs across multiple business units.
Experience Required
  • 2+ years of Public Accounting or Cost Accounting
  • 5+ years of progressive Financial Planning or Analytical roles
  • Experience leading and influencing others
  • Global consumer goods or manufacturing experience required

  • Strong financial acumen, robust analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Dynamic, pro‑active and enthusiastic leader with the financial and interpersonal skills that will allow him/her credibility across the business
  • Ability to penetrate deep into a subject while at the same time understand the broader concept and communicate at the appropriate level to the stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and communications skills; an ability to work with and influence a variety of different positions within an organization
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under deadline pressures; set priorities; multitask, drive change and respond to demands from multiple sources
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills with a deadline driven focus
  • Strong verbal and written skills as well as the ability to effectively present financial data to senior management and business partners
  • Advanced Excel and data warehouse mining experience. SAP & BPC experience a plus
  • Position also requires judgment, resourcefulness and independent thought in the development of new planning and estimating procedures that are required in our continually changing business environment
  • High degree of discretion in dealing with highly confidential information related to both the business and the cost centers’ personnel
Education Required
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field
  • MBA preferred but not required
  • CPA or other Professional Certification a plus, though not required depending on experience
