Job summary

USTA is seeking a strategic finance leader to drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across the organization. This role partners with senior leaders to deliver insights, manage GAAP compliance, and optimize procurement and fulfillment processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in finance, accounting, or business administration.
  • 7–10 years of experience in finance, budgeting, accounting, and/or fulfillment operations; 1–2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, analysis, and balance sheet.
  • Experience with large data sets to create automated reports and dashboards.
  • ERP proficiency with SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Experience in supply chain, logistics, or fulfillment operations is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration across levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual budgeting process with departmental budgets and long-term plans.
  • Partner with business leaders to explain results, variances, and KPIs.
  • Understand zero-based budgeting and track KPIs and metrics.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing in GAAP-compliant manner.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership for planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting tools.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Oversee invoices, POs, and contracts; manage barter and value-in-kind reporting.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting, financial modeling, and special projects.

The Role

To provide strategic financial, accounting, and operational support, ensuring alignment with the USTA's mission to grow tennis and inspire healthier people and communities across the nation. This role is critical in driving financial planning, budgeting, and fulfillment operations that directly contribute to the long-term success and impact of USTA initiatives.

Finance, Budgeting, and Accounting:

  • Manage and complete the annual budgeting process, including the development of departmental budgets, financial projections, and long-term financial plans.
  • Partner with business leaders to explain results, variances, and key performance indicators
  • Possess an understanding of zero-based budgeting and experience in developing and tracking KPIs and metrics to support financial and operational performance.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Provide strategic financial insights to the Senior Director to support decision-making and long- term planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, budgeting systems, and reporting tools.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Support the daily management of invoices, purchase orders, and contracts
  • Barter and Value In-Kind reporting and tracking for review with auditors and for financial statement recognition.
  • Ad hoc reporting, financial modeling and special projects for Senior Director, Finance.

Fulfillment Operations:

  • Manage Net Generation product inventory (review of schedules to add new additions and to record inventory used during the month)
  • Provide strategic support for the operations team, including inventory management, demand planning, order processing, and logistics, ensuring efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fulfillment operations and drive initiatives to improve performance

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between finance, accounting, and operations teams to achieve company objectives.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or MBA is a plus
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance, budgeting, accounting, and/or fulfillment operations, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and balance sheet analysis
  • Experience using large data sets to create automated reporting dashboards and visualizations that are easy to use and digest
  • Experience in supply chain management, logistics, or fulfillment operations is a plus.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, able to analyze larger datasets and develop financial reports.
  • Experience with complex bank reconciliations, which included a high volume of credit card settlements
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter

The expected annual base salary for this position is up to $100,000.

This role is eligible for an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) bonus up to 5%. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
