Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales, and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Our products are also used in detection, measurement, and imaging applications, including military communication, guidance, and electronic countermeasure systems, commercial, scientific, military land, sea, and aircraft; automotive systems, medical systems, and industrial test equipment.

Mini-Circuits sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, and sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website.

Position Summary:

The Sr Manager of Engineering Services will be responsible for the management, development, and continuous improvement of the Corporate Engineering Services organization. Together with the Eng. Services team and it’s internal customers, this position will oversee the collaborative efforts to develop phased plans and improvement roadmaps for each sub-department in alignment with organizational goals, while prioritizing based on the most significant pain points and opportunities for efficiency gains.

The Director of Eng. Services must understand the existing Engineering Services capabilities, liabilities, and technologies, make necessary course corrections to ensure on-time delivery commitments of scheduling, capabilities, features, and development costs. The Director will determine technological needs for meeting demands (present and future) for Product Development, Engineering Services and Manufacturing.

Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000 per year

Job Function:

• Manage sub-departments of Engineering Services from a strategic perspective and evaluate the efficiency, quality, and effectiveness of contributions to ensure sustainability and alignment with organizational objectives
  • CAD/Doc organization:
    • Oversee management and team that collaborates with Product Development for new product releases and Manufacturing for ongoing improvements and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) within the PLM tool.
    • Initiate and close out all ECR/ECO, NPR/NPO documentation, along with generating the necessary documentation such as BOMs, assembly drawings, work instructions, etc.
  • RF Engineering Test:
    • Improve the efficiency and focus of management and team.
    • Ensure that key goals are achieved consistently and on time.
    • Develop metrics to evaluate use of resources and implement changes and drive improvements.
    • Assess and implement development opportunities for staff (Test Engineers)
  • Test System Strategy:
    • Define and implement a global company test system strategy that consists of hardware & software used to evaluate, characterize, and test products with the appropriate flexibility balanced with global consistency, revision control and efficiency optimization.
    • This test system needs to be properly planned and executed by
    • Evaluating to determine the appropriate external tools to consider within organizational priorities
    • Architecting the solution using modern software methods/standards
    • Implementing the solution, to be released in phases resulting in worldwide consistency
  • Mechanical & Printed Circuit Board Teams:
    • Evaluate these teams’ workload and priorities to drive better services to internal customers and efficiency.
    • Provide guidance and advisement where needed to smaller support teams
  • Product Development Operational Strategy
    • Introduce and oversee ongoing improvements to the product generation process (PGP).
    • Manage software subscription management, IT initiatives, audit preparation, patent admin, R&D Headcount/budget planning
  • Engineering Software licensing management
    • Coordinate closely with IT to ensure full compliance with various engineering software usage, and proper infrastructure support.
    • Coordinate closely with strategic sourcing and legal to support negotiations and contractual reviews for favorable terms and conditions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly and indirectly manage and supervise resources dedicated to Engineering Services.
• Assess existing staff for capability gaps vs. necessary capability and make necessary improvement
• Build a highly collaborative, scalable team united in their vision/goals for the Engineering Services organization; ensure timely hiring and training of new staffing based on needed talent to achieve company goals.
• Formulate with the team, challenging but realistic organizational vision/goals that brings together different geographic sites aligned toward a common goal/vision. Connect individuals/leaders and their specific responsibilities to the goals resulting in improved employee engagement and retention.
• Influence the organization where necessary to ensure Engineering Services’ success.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
• Minium 10 years related experience in the RF/Microwave industry, or similar high-tech industry related to telecommunications, electronics, machine automation or controls systems.
• Practical project management experience (market research, problem resolution, business development, tracking the progress of activities, etc.) in a technical, high quality and customer service driven environment
• Proficiency in data analysis using MS Office with emphasis in Excel.
• Proven research, analytical and presentation skills
• Previous experience managing cross functional/cross geographic team of product development engineers.
• Previous experience in test engineering and production test. Prefer experience in leading a test engineering team.
• Ability to discern key milestones in projects, establish goals on achieving them and plan ahead over a one through five-year time span.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, lead people and get results through others. Strong team player.
• Demonstrated ability to interact, deliver on-time results and be accountable to Senior Management.
• Must be detail oriented and extremely well organized.
