About This Role

The Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering is a leader responsible for building, leading, and scaling engineering teams that support high-volume manufacturing of iRhythm’s medical devices.

This role focuses on organizational leadership, cross-functional execution, and operational excellence, ensuring engineering teams consistently deliver robust, compliant, and scalable manufacturing solutions. This role partners closely with Operations, Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain leadership to drive alignment, manage risk, and enable sustained product quality and manufacturing performance.

While a strong technical foundation is important, success in this role is defined by the ability to lead teams, set direction, develop talent, and drive results through others in a regulated environment.

What You Will Be Doing
Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical and test engineers supporting PCBA testing, process improvement, and troubleshooting.
  • Build technical and leadership capabilities aligned with iRhythm’s operational excellence and quality culture.
  • Drive accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement across the electrical engineering function.
  • Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and external suppliers to ensure seamless product lifecycle support.
PCBA Testing and Validation
  • Collaborate and guide the design, development, and validation of automated PCBA test systems (ICT and functional circuit testing).
  • Lead a team that can design the test coverage strategy and ensure compliance with Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Collaborate closely with iRhythm’s contract manufacturing partners (CMs) to monitor and improve yield, test accuracy, and throughput.
  • Develop and sustain test data collection and traceability systems to support quality metrics and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 standards.
Failure Analysis and Root Cause Resolution
  • Lead a team to perform PCBA and system-level failure analysis on in-process, returned, and reliability-tested products.
  • Use and introduce advanced diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, X-ray, and functional test data to drive root cause investigations.
  • Partner with design engineering teams to identify and mitigate failure modes impacting long-term device performance.
  • Document and communicate findings clearly through structured reports and presentations to leadership and quality teams.
Process Ownership and Continuous Improvement
  • Establish and maintain standardized test procedures, calibration, and verification processes for all test stations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve capacity, first-pass yield, field reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring full documentation, validation records, and process control evidence are maintained.
  • Lead technical reviews and post-mortems for PCBA issues to ensure knowledge sharing and design learning across teams.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in medical device manufacturing, with 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience with medical devices, FDA-regulated environments, or ISO 13485 quality systems strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in PCBA testing, test system development, and electrical failure analysis.
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing technical teams in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence engineering, operations, and quality teams.
  • Comfortable presenting complex technical topics to both executive and non-technical audiences.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on root cause resolution and continuous improvement.
