Job description

People Stretch Solutions is a Washington, DC-based management consulting firm specializing in strategy, C-level advisory, and business development effectiveness for mid-market companies across North America and EMEA.

Founded and led by an experienced CEO/President, we partner with executive teams to translate ambition into workable strategy, organizational alignment, and disciplined execution. Our work sits at the intersection of strategy and people: helping leaders clarify where they are going, determine how to get there, and successfully lead their organizations through the change required to make it happen.

Demand for our work has outpaced capacity, and we are making our first full-time strategic hire(s). We are looking for an experienced consultant who can own client engagements end to end while helping build the next stage of the firm.

We are also expanding our advisory capabilities around AI strategy and governance, helping clients thoughtfully prepare for and adopt generative AI. This will be an important and growing component of our work, but the foundation of this role is strategic planning, organizational change management (OCM), and helping leaders turn strategy into action.

As Senior Manager/Director, you will be a senior delivery lead for strategy, strategic planning, and change-management engagements and a key contributor to our growing AI strategy and governance practice.

You will work closely with the Founder to shape client engagements, independently lead day-to-day delivery, and represent the firm in front of senior stakeholders. This is a hands-on consulting and builder’s role: you will move fluidly between developing strategy, conducting analysis, facilitating executive conversations, designing change approaches, building deliverables, and helping clients move from decisions to execution.

You won’t simply manage a team of people doing the work. In a firm of our size, you’ll be expected to think strategically and do the work, whether that means facilitating an executive planning session, analyzing data, developing a strategic framework, building a change-management roadmap, or presenting recommendations to a CEO.

This role is well suited to someone operating at the level between a senior engagement manager and a director who wants meaningful ownership, variety, and the opportunity to help shape a growing consulting firm.

Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Strategy Consulting
  • Lead client strategy and strategic-planning engagements from scoping through delivery, including developing workplans, conducting analysis, facilitating discussions, and delivering final recommendations.
  • Facilitate executive teams through strategic-planning processes, helping leaders clarify vision and mission, establish organizational priorities, define strategic goals and KPIs, and translate strategy into actionable roadmaps.
  • Help clients connect strategy to execution by identifying the capabilities, resources, operating-model changes, and organizational priorities required to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Conduct research, financial and operational analysis, and synthesis to identify insights, opportunities, risks, and recommendations.
  • Develop executive-quality presentations, strategic frameworks, decision documents, and other client deliverables.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary day-to-day contact for client leadership, managing scope, timelines, expectations, and relationships.
  • Help clients navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex organizational challenges to reach clear decisions and forward momentum.
Organizational Change & Transformation
  • Help leaders translate strategic decisions into practical plans for organizational change and implementation.
  • Assess organizational readiness for change and identify potential barriers to adoption, alignment, and execution.
  • Develop change-management approaches that address stakeholder engagement, communication, leadership alignment, capability building, and adoption.
  • Facilitate leadership and stakeholder conversations that create alignment, surface resistance, and build commitment to change.
  • Partner with clients to establish practical measures of progress and mechanisms for accountability.
  • Help leaders sustain change by embedding new priorities, behaviors, processes, and ways of working into the organization.
  • Bring a pragmatic, human-centered approach to change, recognizing that successful transformation requires both sound strategy and attention to the people responsible for making it happen.
  • Support clients in developing practical AI strategies, including identifying high-value use cases, assessing organizational readiness, and developing phased adoption roadmaps for generative AI.
  • Help clients establish foundational AI governance practices, including policies, risk assessment, data and model oversight, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Translate responsible-AI principles and emerging frameworks into practical guardrails that organizations can realistically implement and sustain.
  • Stay informed about the evolving AI regulatory and best-practice landscape and contribute to the firm’s growing AI advisory capabilities and point of view.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive-level clients and serve as a thought partner throughout engagements.
  • Develop methodologies, frameworks, templates, and reusable tools that improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of our work.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how the firm delivers consulting services and help turn those ideas into practical solutions.
  • Contribute to business development through proposals, scoping conversations, client presentations, and thought leadership.
  • Help expand and manage our network of specialized contractors and subject-matter experts as engagement needs require.
  • Represent People Stretch Solutions with professionalism, curiosity, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to client outcomes.
Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, organizational development/change management, or a comparable advisory role, including independently leading client engagements or significant workstreams.
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic planning and strategy development, including experience working with executive teams to establish vision, priorities, goals, KPIs, and actionable plans.
  • Experience helping organizations navigate and implement change, with an understanding of both the strategic and human dimensions of transformation.
  • Experience advising clients on organizational transformation, operating-model design, leadership effectiveness, or change management.
  • Strong executive facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent structured problem-solving, research, analysis, synthesis, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI and genuine interest in AI governance, risk, and responsible adoption.
  • Comfort operating with significant autonomy and ambiguity in a small, fast-moving consulting firm.
  • A willingness to be both the strategist and the doer, equally comfortable leading the room, analyzing the data, building the presentation, and working through the details required to deliver an excellent client outcome.
Preferred
  • Direct experience with AI strategy, data governance, risk, or compliance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, or the EU AI Act.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or relevant master’s) or professional certifications in strategy, organizational development, change management, risk, or AI governance.
  • Prior experience in a boutique, entrepreneurial, or founder-led consulting environment.
  • Experience building consulting methodologies, intellectual property, or reusable client tools.

We believe great consultants should be rewarded not only through base salary, but through a well-rounded compensation and benefits package.

Performance Bonus:

Eligible for an annual bonus of up to 30% of base salary, based on individual and company performance.

Paid Time Off & Holidays
  • 20 days of PTO annually
  • 5 paid holidays
  • Paid winter break
  • 2 floating holidays
Retirement
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Medical coverage through CareFirst
  • Dental coverage through CareFirst

This role offers the opportunity to join a growing boutique consulting firm at an important inflection point — with meaningful client ownership, direct access to senior leadership, and the ability to help shape both our client work and the future of the firm.
