Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years of fundraising or development experience, ideally in nonprofit lending or related sectors.
  • Proven success securing major gifts, grants, and impact investment capital.
  • Strong knowledge of CDFI financing, public funding sources, and impact investing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of annual fundraising strategies to secure loan capital, grants, and operating support.
  • Build, cultivate, and steward relationships with funders and investors across sectors.
  • Develop grant proposals, funding applications, and impact reports.
  • Implement fundraising and capitalization strategies to diversify funding sources.
  • Research funding opportunities and monitor trends in community development finance.
  • Track fundraising progress and prepare reports for leadership and the board.
  • Represent CBA Fund at meetings, conferences, and community events to raise visibility.
  • Other duties as required.

Chief Operating Officer

The Senior Manager, Development and Strategic Partnerships serves as the primary fundraiser for CBA Fund, representing its values, credibility, and impact to funders and investors. This role focuses on building and strengthening relationships, engaging new funders, and sustaining long-term partnerships to secure the resources needed to advance the organization’s mission. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Manager, Development and Strategic Partnerships leads strategy development, funder cultivation, and revenue growth. Key responsibilities include creating and executing annual development plans while managing grant activities to ensure CBA Fund’s ongoing financial stability.

Essential Duties
  • Lead the development and execution of annual fundraising strategies to secure loan capital, grants, and operating support that advance CBA Fund's mission and strategic growth objectives.
  • Build, cultivate, and steward relationships with a diverse group of funders and investors across public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
  • Develop grant proposals, funding applications, impact reports, and other materials to support fundraising efforts.
  • Implement fundraising and capitalization strategies to grow and diversify funding sources.
  • Research funding opportunities and monitor trends in community development finance and philanthropy.
  • Track fundraising progress and prepare reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Represent CBA Fund at meetings, conferences, and community events to strengthen partnerships and increase visibility.
  • Other duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in fundraising, capital raising, or development preferred, particularly within a nonprofit lender, CDFI, financial institution, or related sector.
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and/or impact investment capital.
  • Strong knowledge of CDFI financing, public funding sources, and impact investing preferred.
  • Excellent relationship building, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute fundraising and capitalization strategies.
  • Strong grant writing, reporting, and project management skills.
  • Experience advising leadership and working cross-functionally.
  • Commitment to community development and serving underserved communities.
  • Established network of funders/investors preferred.
Location

CBA is headquartered in Washington, DC. Given the relationship management and stakeholder engagement responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to candidates located in the Washington, DC and New York City (NYC) metropolitan areas.
