Position Summary
Walmart Global Data Foundation is seeking a Senior Manager for Data Ventures Data Engineering Team to lead the architecture, design, and hands‑on development of scalable, cloud‑native, AI powered data platforms that power our data products. This is a builder's role: you'll blend deep technical leadership with people leadership writing production‑quality code, owning the architectural integrity of critical services, and guiding a team of engineers who genuinely love owning what they build. You'll partner closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to translate complex business problems into reliable, governed, customer‑centric data products, while championing engineering, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the team.
What you’ll do
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable data engineering solutions to support business analytics and AI initiatives.
- Oversee data integration, transformation, and quality assurance processes across data sources and platforms.
- Implement and maintain data governance practices ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into effective data strategies and architectures.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and data modeling.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance data infrastructure and automation capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement in data pipelines, ensuring reliability and performance at scale.
What you’ll bring
- Lead the architecture, design, and hands‑on development of scalable, cloud‑native, AI-powered data platforms and products.
- Write production‑quality code and implement complex, distributed systems — this role stays close to the code, not just the roadmap.
- Architect end‑to‑end data pipelines that integrate data sources into reliable, data products for merchants and suppliers.
- Establish data governance, automated data quality frameworks, and compliance practices that scale with the platform.
- Champion DevOps, CI/CD, reliability, observability drive code reviews, incident resolution, and system performance optimization as a hands‑on technical leader.
- Experience leading engineering teams, mentoring engineers, and managing multiple projects effectively in a fast‑paced, agile environment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
- Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
- Option 3: Master’s degree in Computer Science and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
- 4 years’ experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.
- 1 year’s supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence or business analytics, ETL tools and working with large data sets in the cloud, Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly. Salary
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
