Job summary

Samsung Research America seeks a Senior Manager to lead the Data Efficiency group within the Robot Intelligence Lab. You will guide researchers, developers, and roboticists to explore AI-led techniques that generalize robots to real-world tasks, leveraging Samsung’s product ecosystem to create novel user experiences.

You will drive state-of-the-art R&D, manage pilots and prototypes, and contribute to patents and papers, while coordinating with Samsung Product and Advanced Research labs.

Qualifications

• PhD required in technology or engineering or equivalent
• 7+ years of robotics research/industry experience after PhD
• Experience with ML training, data/model management, data augmentation, multi-GPU training
• Knowledge of robot learning pipelines including simulation and teleoperation
• Strong robotics fundamentals: locomotion, manipulation, sensing, SLAM, ROS, Isaac-SIM, policy architectures
• Proven leadership and mentorship capabilities
• Strong communication and ability to engage customers at business and technical levels
• Experience defining project scope, schedules, and delivering prototypes
• Active engagement with AI/ML and robot learning trends

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage state-of-the-art R&D for data-efficient robotics.
• Lead a team to build pipelines for data processing, learning, and deployment.
• Prepare proof-of-concepts and pilot studies using available robot platforms.
• Manage team operations: recruiting, milestones, patenting, contracting, purchasing, facilities.
• Publish patents and high-impact research papers.
