Job description

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About the Role:

MSP-4 is Crusoe's 20 MW AI-optimized data center in Shakopee, MN, with planned expansion to 40 MW. We're

looking for a Senior Manager, Facility Operations to own day-to-day critical infrastructure operations through this

growth phase — someone who can run a tight, high-performing team today while building the staffing and operational

model that scales cleanly as capacity doubles.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll be accountable for uptime, safety, and operational excellence across electrical,

mechanical, and controls systems supporting high-density AI compute, while also acting as the site's operational

architect as MSP-4 grows.

Key Responsibilities
Critical Facility Operations

Own 24/7 operational readiness of all critical infrastructure: electrical distribution (switchgear, UPS,

generators, PDUs), mechanical systems (CRAH/CRAC, chillers, cooling towers, and liquid/direct-to-chip

cooling as applicable to AI density loads), fire/life safety, and BMS/EPMS monitoring platforms.

Maintain and continuously improve Methods of Procedure (MOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs),

and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Drive root cause analysis and corrective action on any incidents or near-misses; own postmortems and track

remediation to closure.

Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.

Team & Staffing Model

Build and manage a lean, cross-trained operations team (facility engineers, technicians) sized appropriately for

a 20 MW site, with a clear plan to scale staffing, shift coverage, and skill sets as the site expands to 40 MW.

Define staffing ratios, shift structures, and on-call coverage models that balance cost efficiency with uptime risk.

Recruit, develop, and retain technical talent; identify cross-training opportunities to reduce reliance on specialized outside vendors where practical.

Manage relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and Critical Facility Managers (CFMs)/staffing partners as needed to supplement core staff.

Capacity Expansion (20 MW → 40 MW)

Serve as the operations stakeholder in expansion planning — partner with Design, Construction, and

Commissioning teams to ensure new capacity is integrated without disrupting live production load.

Support integrated systems testing (IST) and commissioning of new electrical/mechanical infrastructure.

Update staffing plans, spares strategy, and maintenance programs to reflect the expanded footprint.

Safety & Compliance

Champion a zero-incident safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific electrical safety programs (arc flash, LOTO, etc.).

Maintain compliance with local Shakopee/Minnesota code requirements, environmental permits, and any

utility interconnection agreements tied to load growth.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

Own site-level KPIs: uptime/availability, PUE, MTTR/MTBF, PM completion rate, safety metrics.

Provide regular operational reporting to Crusoe's regional/corporate leadership.

Manage OpEx budget for the site, including labor, spares, contracts, and utilities.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years managing operations in a data center environment, including direct responsibility for critical

infrastructure (electrical and mechanical systems).

Demonstrated experience building, right-sizing, or optimizing a lean staffing model — including shift design,

cross-training, and vendor/staff balance.

Strong working knowledge of electrical distribution and mechanical cooling systems typical of

enterprise/hyperscale/colocation data centers.

Experience managing teams (direct reports and/or contracted staff) in a 24/7 operational environment.

Working knowledge of BMS/EPMS/DCIM monitoring platforms.

Familiarity with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and industry-standard safety programs.

Strong incident management and root-cause-analysis discipline.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with high-density AI/GPU compute environments, including liquid cooling or direct-to-chip

cooling systems.

Experience operating through a live capacity expansion or brownfield build-out (site growing in MW while

remaining in production).

Uptime Institute ATD/ADOS, CDCP/CDCS, or similar data center credential.

Experience in the Upper Midwest utility/regulatory environment (Xcel Energy service territory knowledge a plus, given Shakopee's location).

Working Conditions

On-site role at Crusoe's MSP-4 facility, Shakopee, MN.

Must be available for on-call rotation and able to respond on-site during critical incidents.

Data center environment: exposure to raised-floor mechanical/electrical rooms, generator yards, and elevated

noise areas; PPE required in designated zones.

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation and equity packages
  • Restricted Stock Units
  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs
  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
  • Employer contributions to HSA account
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Cell phone stipend
  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
  • Volunteer time off
  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance
  • Daily meals allowance
  • Additional perks & programs specific to location
