Job description

At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Corporate Development to help advance the inorganic growth strategy at WHOOP through M&A and strategic partnerships. This individual will work closely with senior executives and leaders across the company to identify and evaluate opportunities that accelerate the mission and long-term strategic priorities of WHOOP.

The ideal candidate will have proven skills in financial modeling, strategic assessment, and M&A due diligence, along with the curiosity and strategic thinking needed to identify important factors that may never fit on a spreadsheet. This role requires someone who can move fluidly between high-level strategy and detailed transaction execution, develop strong perspectives with imperfect information, and effectively collaborate with senior stakeholders across WHOOP and the broader technology, healthcare, and investment ecosystems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive Deal Execution: Lead key aspects of M&A, strategic investment, and partnership processes from initial evaluation through execution, including market mapping, target sourcing, financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, approval materials, closing, and integration planning.

  • Partner with senior executives and Product leaders to translate strategic priorities into actionable market landscapes, target universes, and build/buy/partner recommendations.

  • Develop and maintain a prioritized pipeline of acquisition, investment, and strategic partnership opportunities, including proactive sourcing and outreach to prospective targets.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on financial analysis and valuation, including discounted cash flow analysis, precedent transactions, comparable companies, accretion/dilution analysis, unit economics, and business case modeling.

  • Build sophisticated long-term financial and capital models to assess potential transactions, new growth initiatives, and capital allocation decisions.

  • Lead cross-functional due diligence processes in partnership with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and other key stakeholders, synthesizing findings into clear recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Develop rigorous quantitative and qualitative assessments of strategic growth initiatives, including new markets, technologies, products, and business lines, in close partnership with Corporate Strategy and other cross-functional teams.

  • Prepare clear, decision-oriented materials for senior executives and the Board, articulating investment theses, key risks, valuation considerations, strategic rationale, and potential impact on long-term value creation.

  • Play a lead role in transaction negotiations and structuring, developing perspectives on key economic and strategic terms and helping drive transactions toward successful outcomes.

  • Support post-transaction integration planning to ensure strategic objectives, operating priorities, and value-creation opportunities are clearly defined and executable.

  • Operate as a business athlete across WHOOP, serving as a flexible resource across the organization and applying financial analysis, strategic thinking, and project leadership to high-priority initiatives and complex business problems beyond the traditional scope of Corporate Development.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of relevant experience across corporate development, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or related roles, with meaningful transaction experience.

  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and executing M&A transactions, strategic investments, or similarly complex strategic initiatives.

  • Deep expertise in financial modeling, valuation, unit economics, LTV modeling, and investment/business case development.

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end M&A process, including sourcing, diligence, valuation, transaction structuring, negotiation, closing, and integration planning.

  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional workstreams and driving processes forward in fast-moving environments.

  • Strong strategic judgment and the ability to identify the most important qualitative and quantitative factors when evaluating opportunities with incomplete information.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to distill complex information into clear insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the executive presence to effectively engage senior leaders, external executives, investors, advisors, and other stakeholders.

  • A track record of taking ownership, operating with a high degree of autonomy, and successfully driving negotiations and complex projects to completion.

  • A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to identify what needs to be done, take initiative, and drive work forward with limited oversight, combined with a team-first, positive mindset and willingness to contribute wherever needed.

  • Experience in healthcare, consumer subscriptions, technology, or adjacent industries is preferred.

  • MBA preferred.

  • Unparalleled work ethic, intensity, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to grow and develop in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
