BookOps, the shared library services collaboration of NYPL and BPL, seeks a Senior Manager, Database Maintenance to oversee bibliographic metadata quality across both ILS ecosystems. You will lead a team responsible for loading vendor records, performing catalog clean-ups, and upholding MARC21 and related standards.

The role emphasizes designing QA procedures, collaborating with multiple departments, and driving improvements in cataloging workflows through regular analysis and reporting.

Qualifications

• Senior Manager responsible for quality control of bibliographic records across NYPL and BPL Integrated Library Systems (ILS).
• Oversees a team that loads vendor records and performs catalog clean-ups to ensure metadata integrity.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assigns work to a team of catalogers loading vendor records.
• Directs implementation of quality assurance procedures to maintain metadata integrity (MARC21, RDA, DDC, LCSH, etc).
• Collaborates with department management to design, manage, and assess cataloging processes.
• Oversees collection of departmental cataloging statistics and produces analysis/reports on activities.
• Documents and updates database maintenance workflows and handles ticketing via ServiceNow.
• Attends meetings and coordinates with vendors as needed.
• Approves schedules and provides coverage when needed.
• Performs other related duties as required.
