Summary

Global Development is undertaking a Digital Transformation project focused on AI, machine learning, and automation to improve cycle times and quality. This visible role serves as a technical and strategic liaison between transformation projects and IT. You will modernize our clinical data infrastructure by designing, optimizing, and governing data schemas and models while ensuring compliance and interoperability.

Responsibilities

• Work with cross‑functional teams to optimize and implement data strategy for digital transformation and AI/ML initiatives.
• Design and document end‑to‑end data architectures that support analytic, operational, and research needs.
• Facilitate the implementation of a modern data platform (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
• Identify opportunities and implement solutions to increase data interoperability and standardization across systems and business units.
• Develop and implement pipelines to monitor and improve internal and external data quality.
• Collaborate with informatics and AI engineers to optimize data utility for their pipelines.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of data architectures and platforms.
• Develop or implement critical metrics to measure the impact of the overall data strategy.
• Stay current with industry advances and evaluate new technologies for adoption.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code‑repository management.
• May require travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, biomedical informatics, or related field (PhD + 2 years experience or MS + 4 years).
• Minimum 5 years of experience implementing data engineering solutions in life sciences or healthcare.
• Expertise in designing and maintaining infrastructure for clinical or biomedical data.
• Proficiency with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks) and programming languages (Python, SQL, R).
• Experience with cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices.
• Ability to build, scale, and maintain pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11) and clinical data standards (CDISC, HL7, FHIR).
• Knowledge of machine‑learning pipelines and integration with clinical data platforms.
• Familiarity with version control (e.g., Bitbucket) and clean code practices.
• Recognized certifications are a plus.

Salary

Annual salary range: $150,500 – $245,500.
