Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a senior data science leader to develop scalable analytics and ML capabilities across customer, marketing, and omnichannel initiatives. You will drive cross-functional collaboration, embed governance and data quality, and guide teams to reuse proven patterns rather than rebuilding solutions for every need.

The role emphasizes partnering with data engineers, platform teams, and governance to deliver secure, scalable data flows and impactful customer analytics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or Computer Sciences.
• 8+ years in data science, advanced analytics, or related fields (retail/B2C preferred).
• 4+ years leading teams or major technical initiatives.
• 3+ years in B2C, retail, e-commerce, marketing analytics, or customer-facing analytics domains.
• 3+ years building, deploying, or enabling production-grade analytics or ML solutions.
• Background working with digital analytics or customer data platforms like Adobe or web/app analytics.

Responsibilities

• Shape scalable, reusable, production-grade data science and AI capabilities for customer, marketing, and omnichannel work.
• Lead data science teams and enable data scientists, analysts, and engineers to reuse approaches.
• Embed quality, fairness, trust, compliance, and governance into analytics work.
• Define secure, documented customer data flows and governance.
• Influence priorities through evidence, design proposals, and proof-of-value work.
