Job summary

Stout is seeking a senior Accounting & Reporting Advisor to lead engagement delivery, oversee financial statements, and drive post-acquisition integration for diverse clients in an industry-agnostic setting.

You will partner with early-stage to large public organizations, prepare complex accounting research, and support SEC-related schedules while mentoring teams and contributing to business development.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting research.
• Experience with post-acquisition integration and M&A.
• Ability to prepare and review financial statements and disclosures.
• Strong client-service mindset and ability to engage with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead Accounting & Reporting Advisory engagements and deliver client-ready documents.
• Review reconciliations, address discrepancies, and communicate with clients.
• Research complex contracts and document conclusions per guidance.
• Prepare accounting memoranda and policies for accuracy and clarity.
• Oversee journal entries, close process, and financial reporting.
• Support SEC filing research and related schedules.
• Act as SME for post-acquisition integration and valuation practice.
• Drive day-to-day accounting operations for clients and manage AP/AR.
• Contribute to business development and client proposals.

Impact You'll Make

• Execute and lead Accounting & Reporting Advisory engagements with primary responsibility for research and preparation of client deliverables
• Prepare and review account reconciliations and support communication with client, identifying issues, resolving discrepancies, and escalating matters as appropriate.
• Review and analyze complex contracts, conducting and supporting technical accounting research and documenting conclusions in accordance with applicable guidance.
• Prepare and contribute to the review of accounting memoranda and policies, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with accounting standards.

What You'll Do

• Partner with clients ranging from early stage to large publicly traded organizations in an industry agnostic environment
• Prepare and review of account reconciliations and communication with client vendors
• Review of complex contracts and the related technical accounting research
• Preparation of accounting memoranda and policies
• Determine appropriate journal entries and other operational accounting matters
• Preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures
• Research on SEC filing requirements, and preparation of supporting accounting schedules and other audit support
• Serve as post-acquisition integration SME including demonstrating familiarity with standard IMO practices and procedures
• Serve as a technical accounting subject-matter expert for the firm's valuation practice, providing ad hoc research and support
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for clients including management of accounts payable and accounts receivable, processing and posting payroll, preparing and posting journal entries
• Actively involved in business development including client pursuits and proposals
• Identify areas to scale efficiencies and new ways of working across multiple projects and environments
• Interact with finance-focused ERPs, e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP, Oracle
• Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to enhance research, streamline deliverable preparation, and improve overall efficiency and insight.
• The selected candidate will be an entrepreneurial self-starter, who is interested in participating in growth of service line within the established firm.

What You Bring

• Broad knowledge of US GAAP, which may include: purchase accounting, derivatives, complex debt and equity securities, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, and lease accounting
• Financial statement preparation
• Experience interpreting complex accounting standards/treatment and documenting into practical terms
• Deep experience with M&A transactions, particularly with post-acquisition integration
• AICPA and PCAOB-level audit readiness preferred
• Experience presenting to the c-suite and executive tier
• Entrepreneurial and client-service focused
• Strong organizational skills
• Familiarity with accounting systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Bill.com, and Expensify
• Familiarity with or interest in using AI tools and technology to enhance productivity, research, and analysis.

Education and/or Training:

• Bachelor of Finance or Accounting
• 8+ yearsof finance process and / or transformation experience
• Demonstrated expertise in industries such as but not limited to: manufacturing, CPG, healthcare, and financial services
• Combination of audit and advisory experience
• Post-acquisition transaction experience preferred
• CPA preferred
