Overview

Zurich North America is currently looking for a Management Liability Underwriter, D&O (Senior or AVP). This role can be based in Detroit, Louisiana Virtual, Minneapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, or South Carolina Virtual. The Underwriter will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business for Financial Lines Products (Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime Insurance) for private, nonprofit companies. This is a market-facing position with a strong sales mindset; the role requires proactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities, and identifying growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
• Develop, maintain, and collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business-related needs, as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition; work with customers and distributors to determine insurance-related needs and provide solutions.
• Support the organization's sales culture by acting as a Help Point for agents, brokers, and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite and balance with sound business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
• Mentor team members.

Qualifications

This role will be filled at either the Senior or AVP level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based on the applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed.

Management Liability Underwriter - Senior (Basic Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in Claims or underwriting support, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in Claims or underwriting support, AND
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience working in a team environment

Management Liability Underwriter - AVP (Basic Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in Claims or underwriting support area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in Claims or underwriting support area, AND
• Experience with Microsoft Office

Compensation ranges and total rewards information are provided and may vary by location and experience. The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00 - $215,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Senior is $98,500.00 - $165,000.00, with 15% short-term incentive bonus eligibility.
