Job summary

Vivmark Residential, formed by AvalonBay Communities and Equity Residential, seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician for our Washington, DC area communities. You will address resident service requests and perform hands-on maintenance to ensure market-ready apartments.

This role includes specialized drywall work, high-quality painting, and proactive site cleanup to minimize resident disruption, with potential to assume managerial duties in the absence of the Service Manager.

Qualifications

  • Maintenance experience in plumbing, electrical, appliance, and HVAC.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of federal/state apartment housing laws.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends.
  • EPA 608 Type I/II or Universal certification within 90 days.
  • On-call after hours availability.
  • Own smartphone to perform duties.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Maintenance Technician, your day-to-day will involve addressing resident service requests, performing diverse hands-on maintenance tasks, and ensuring market-ready apartments. Additionally, you may assist in managing maintenance inventory and, in the absence of the Service Manager, assume managerial responsibilities, overseeing service requests and delegating tasks.This person will primarily be a Specialized Drywall Technician. We are seeking a detail-oriented drywall specialist to maintain the aesthetic standards of our multifamily community, focusing on common areas and occupied residences. This role requires a professional capable of performing high-quality painting, drywall repair, and thorough prep work while maintaining a clean, organized workspace to minimize resident disruption.   • Performing hands-on maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, and more
  • Preparing market-ready apartments and maintaining community grounds

  • Assuming managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Service Manager
What You’ll Need To Thrive
  • Hands-on maintenance experience in areas including, but not limited to plumbing, electrical, appliance, and HVAC is necessary
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation is required if the team member will operate a motorized vehicle (e.g., car, golf cart) during their workday and/or as part of their role.
  • Computer literacy, and must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English for all work-related purposes
  • Knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
  • EPA Section 608 Type I and Type II or Universal certification must be obtained within 90
  • days of hire if required based on the needs of the community
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies after normal business hours and on weekends when assigned on-call responsibilities; a telephone number where you can be reached after-hours must be provided to your manager
  • Service team members, with limited exceptions, are required to use their own smartphone to perform certain aspects of their job

Salary: $28.71 - $35.09/hour
  • The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications.
  • Team members are eligible for overtime pay and performance incentives.
