Job summary

The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking a skilled facilities maintenance professional to lead preventive maintenance, ensure mechanical systems run smoothly, and coordinate repairs and contractor work in the St. Louis area.

The role requires a technical degree or equivalent experience, plus 5+ years in maintenance and housekeeping, and certifications such as CPO/POL and HVAC. A valid driver’s license is required. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Technical degree from an accredited trade school, preferred or equivalent experience. Pool Chemistry Certification & EPA Certification.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical capacity, maintenance and housekeeping is desired.
• Must be familiar with and/or be able to learn how to make repairs to facilities, grounds and equipment.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Special skills, Licenses, Certifications or Equipment: CPO or POL, HVAC certification required

Responsibilities

• Provides overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance.
• Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
• Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors.
• Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
• Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
• Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
