Job summary

Talent With Heart is seeking a Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician for a fast-growing food processing plant in Blue Island, IL. This on-site role covers mechanical and electrical maintenance across a three-shift operation, with a focus on reliability, safety, and hands-on problem solving.

You will diagnose varied equipment, perform MIG and stick welding, install pumps and conveyors, and use SCADA/PLC/VFD systems to troubleshoot.

Qualifications

• Electrical experience with 480V three-phase systems required.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in an industrial plant; food, chemical, or similar process environments preferred.
• MIG and stick welding experience preferred.
• SCADA, PLC, or VFD exposure is a plus.
• CMMS experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and LOTO.
• Comfortable in a hot environment without air conditioning.

Responsibilities

• Handle mechanical and electrical maintenance across a three-shift food processing plant
• Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems, including 480V equipment
• Weld (MIG and stick), fabricate, and rig as jobs call for it
• Install, align, and service pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, screens, and tanks
• Use SCADA, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and instrumentation to track down equipment faults
• Complete PM work in the CMMS and keep work and parts records accurate
• Follow and enforce LOTO, confined space, hot work, and OSHA rules
• Help the maintenance manager plan and prioritize work
• Be the person any shift can count on when something breaks

Overview

A fast-growing food processing operation on the south end of the Chicago area is adding a senior hands-on mechanic to a lean maintenance department that supports a three-shift plant. The site is in the middle of a big capacity buildout, and the culture is entrepreneurial and open to lean, 5S, and kaizen ideas from anyone on the team.

This is a true industrial plant. It gets hot, there are odors, and the work gets dirty. People who do well here take that in stride.

What the Job Involves
