Job summary

Management Performance Associates seeks a Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician for a growing food processing client in Blue Island, IL. This on-site role supports a three-shift plant, performing hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance in hot, dirty environments and driving reliability improvements.

You will diagnose and repair 480V machinery, weld as needed, service pumps, conveyors and gearboxes, and use SCADA/PLC/VFD systems to track faults while following LOTO and OSHA rules.

Qualifications

• Electrical experience with 480V three-phase systems required.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair in an industrial plant.
• MIG and stick welding experience preferred.
• SCADA/PLC/VFD exposure is a plus.
• CMMS experience preferred.
• OSHA/LOTO knowledge required.
• Ability to work physically in a hot, unconditioned plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical and mechanical systems across a three-shift plant.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults, including 480V equipment.
• Weld (MIG and stick), fabricate, and rig as needed.
• Install, align, and service pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, tanks.
• Operate SCADA/PLC/VFD systems to locate faults.
• Complete PM work in the CMMS and keep records accurate.
• Follow LOTO, confined space, hot work, and OSHA rules.
• Assist maintenance manager with planning and prioritizing work.

Pay: $40.00 to $65.00/hour based on skills and experience

Overview

A fast-growing food processing operation on the south end of the Chicago area is adding a senior hands-on mechanic to a lean maintenance department that supports a three-shift plant. The site is in the middle of a big capacity buildout, and the culture is entrepreneurial and open to lean, 5S, and kaizen ideas from anyone on the team.

This is a true industrial plant. It gets hot, there are odors, and the work gets dirty. People who do well here take that in stride.

What the Job Involves

• Handle mechanical and electrical maintenance across a three-shift food processing plant
• Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems, including 480V equipment
• Weld (MIG and stick), fabricate, and rig as jobs call for it
• Install, align, and service pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, screens, and tanks
• Use SCADA, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and instrumentation to track down equipment faults
• Complete PM work in the CMMS and keep work and parts records accurate
• Follow and enforce LOTO, confined space, hot work, and OSHA rules
• Help the maintenance manager plan and prioritize work
• Be the person any shift can count on when something breaks

What They Need

• Electrical experience with 480V three-phase systems required
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in an industrial plant; food, chemical, or similar process environments preferred
• MIG and stick welding preferred
• SCADA, PLC, or VFD exposure a plus
• CMMS experience preferred
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and LOTO required
• Comfortable in a physical environment without air conditioning
